A battle against the bots - tips for beginners
Rebellion is all set to release on December 5. Most players have already bought their presale rebellion packs while some are aiming for single cards and maxing it or either leveling it to their preferred league.
With the release of Rebellion, untamed will be shifted to the wild format (only) thus removing the dangers posed by giants like Llama, Kron, Byza, and Zaku. It also means that useful commons like Elven Mystic and failed summoner will vanish from the modern format. The unknown faces of the upcoming rebellion monsters are a challenge to the game planners.
Modern format allows only 'hoomans'. So, it will definitely be a challenge to play in the modern format with only Chaos and Rebellion. As for wild, players and bots will try out the older versions against the new monsters. I am sure the Maverick test server will be witness to many a challenge game in a few weeks. Just yesterday, I came across a video I had saved of me trying to test against Druid the player. Funnily, I never could make up my mind to choose monsters and timed out. This time, I hope I can buy useful singles and level up. As for modern, I am still stuck in the bronze league, and without many new cards, I am not sure I can level up. I do reach the gold 1 in wild format but it is a battle against the bots.
A few tips for those who have begun to play.
Try to study every battle - It could be a win or loss but if you study what strategy worked, then you can definitely work towards emerging a winner all the time.
Try to level up neutral cards before investing in splinter focussed legendaries that are costlier. Sneaks and magic are the ones to focus on at first.
Make sure to play challenge matches against friends or even discord mates and try out new strategies.
Rent a card and try it out before investing.
Always take a break if you lose more than five matches. Clearing the head will make you think smarter and you will break the losing streak.
From now onwards, I hope I can record every battle in modern either won or lost, and study it so that I can improve and progress so that I can use the strategies used by the bots to win. As for land, I will wait and see if I can invest more in rebellion, and also because I love to play, I will continue to play more rather than just sit back, invest, or employ a scholar like the whales do. Splinterlands is all about gaming for me rather than just a passive income.
The above does not mean that I am against investing. If I had extra money, I would have done it but as of now, I just enjoy playing. Many people might try to FUD the game but as a person who has played splinterlands all these years, it is not going anywhere and will stay for years to come and all these formative years will be remembered.
Splinterlands is a landmark in the history of blockchain gaming and has already changed the lives of many people across the globe. With the release of rebellion and the changes brought about by the players with staked SPS, a lot of good will happen because those who have a say are also hard core players. Investors with little or no interest in what they invested are not a part of this community more or less. With splinterlands, it has always been about what the players/gamers wanted and it will always be. The present wish is to bring in full-time gamers who are more interested in gaming than the passive income and I hope we will see that soon.
If you have not joined splinterlands yet, please sign up, test playing, and then invest.

Nice post. I am looking forward to Rebellion, but I'm torn as to how much I'm willing to buy into new cards, I'm definitely going to wait as long as I can before buying anything. Rushing into Chaos did not work out well for anyone. On the bright side Rebellion will greatly level the playing field in Modern. I just hope the new rebellion cards can be rented for a reasonable fee. I did buy some pre-sale packs, I can't make up my mind if I want to open any or keep them in battle wagons for airdrops
