The more Armor the Better in an All Range Battle

Going the Distance.png

Introduction

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

This will be my entry for this weeks Battle Mage Secrets with the featured ruleset Going the Distance. This is a ruleset that only allows the use of monsters with range damage.

The Battle that I will show to you this week was a tournament battle from @bltzr-wizard-726 which is the scholar account I'm playing from Balthazar Guild in partnership with Side Door Ventures and was currently playing on Diamond League of the Modern format but before I reveal the battle, let us learn more about this ruleset.

Only monsters with 00-ranged.png Range attack may be used in battle.

With Going the Distance as an active ruleset, only units with range can be used and for range units, most of them was not able to attack when they are on the first position unless for units with close range and there are also units with multiple attack that can be used in this ruleset. But since only range monsters can be used, it can be easily countered when using monster with Return Fire ability.

This battle comes with a 45 mana cap where the active rulesets were Ferocity, Aim True and the featured ruleset for this week which was Going the Distance. With this in consideration, my lineup was consist of:

Summoner: Kelya Frendul - This summoner gives +1 speed to all ally monsters allowing me to be able to attack faster and also gives +1 armor that will increase my protection against the upcoming range attacks.

  • 1st Position: Venari Marksrat - This monster acts as a sacrificial unit since it is one of those range unit that cant on the first position but what this card has is the Marty ability which increases the stats of the unit that is next to it when this card was defeated..

  • 2nd Position: Drybone Raider Has the ability to attack using melee and range twice for each turn as it has the Double Strike ability together with Shatter which removes the armor of the target and Cripple which reduces their max health.

  • 33d Position: Coastal Nymph - Has a good armor and health alongside its 4 damage although with Scatter Shot it attacks random target each turn.

  • 4th Position: Swamp Spitter - Can restore the armor of an ally monster with Repair and inflict twice its damage on monsters with 10 or more mana with Giant Killer.

  • 5th Position: Supply Runner - Increases the speed and health of all ally monsters with Strengthen and Swiftness as long as it remains in the battle.

  • 6th Position: Kulu Swimhunter - Does not have any abilities but was a ridiculously fast range monster that can deal 4 damage.

1-10/36- Pre- battle Phase: Application of ability buffs and de- buffs by both teams.

Round 1:

11-14/36 Due to the effects of Fury, Kulu Swimhunter and Supply Runner deals 14 damage to Wave Brood since it has Taunt but their armor was also used up because of Return Fire.

15/36 Supply Runner removes the armor on Venari Marksrat.

16-19/36 Swamp Spitter Repair the armor of Venari Marksrat and defeats Wave Brood but also got its armor reduced due to Return Fire.

20-21/36 Angelic Mandarin and Swamp Spitter deals 4 damage on Venari Marksrat.

22/36 Coastal Nymph deals 4 damage on Igor Darkspear.

23-27/36 My Drybone Raider deals 2 damage on the opponent's Drybone Raider and Cripple it twice.

28-31/36 Igor Darkspear defeats Venari Marksrat which activates its Martyr and increases the stats of Drybone Raider.

15/36 The opponents Drybone Raider deals 2 damage on my Drybone Raider and Cripple it twice.

Round 2:

1-5/13 Kulu Swimhunter, Supply Runner and Swamp Spitter defeats Drybone Raider as it Repairs the armor of My Drybone Raider.

6/13 Supply Runner removes the armor of Drybone Raider.

7-11/13 Drybone Raider defeats Igor Darkspear and deals 4 damage on Angelic Mandarin.

12-13/13 Swamp Spitter defeats Brybone Raider.

Round 3:

1-4/7 Suppy Runner and Kulu Swimhunter defeats Angelic Mandarin.

5-6/7 Swamp Spitter Repair its armor and deal 4 damage on Supply Runner.

7/7 The opponent Swamp Spitter removes the armor of Coastal Nymph.

Round 4 and 5:

1-5/8 Supply Runner and Kulu Swimhunter defeats the opponent Supply Runner.

6-7/8 Swamp Spitter Repair the armor of Coastal Nymph and deals 4 armor damage to the opponent Swamp Spitter.

8/8 Swamp Spitter Repair its armor.

And with round 5, since Swamp Spitter was the only monster that was left on the opponent side and can no longer attack, it was quickly defeated when my monsters attack, ending the battle with my victory.

Battle Recap

Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.

Going The Distance.png

Did My Strategy Work?

Increasing the speed and adding armor to my units allows them to sustain the damage they receive on Going the Distance ruleset but also the opponent has made the mistake of using Taunt monsters when there was Fury which allows me to be able to defeat the opponent more quickly. Although my Drybone Raider was also defeated in battle, having a monster that has double attack can be a good addition on range lineup with Going the Distance being an active ruleset.

That was it for this post. Thank you and see you at the next one.
