Race Valley: A Racing Game Built On Hive
Hello everyone! Fasten your seatbelts because a new game is is rev-ing up its development on Hive blockchain and was set to have it's first game mode to be released this summer. The name of the game was RaceValley which is a racing car game with play to earn aspects to it so if you are in to racing games while also looking for potential earning opportunity, this must be a good fit into you. The game will be browser based so it won't require you to download anything that would eat space for your storage.
Game Mechanics and First Game Concept
The race will consist of 4 players on a procedurally generated race track on a 3 minutes time and the fastest to reach the goal will win the race. The cars will always be accelerating and the player will only need to navigate for gear shifting and drifting but while it only uses 2 buttons, it requires the right timing when pressing them or else it will lose momentum. This will be particularly difficult as their first game concept, Turbo Circuit which is a drag rage with curves on it so you will expect to use a lot of drifting on it.
The race will cost 1 Fuel and each car would have a maximum of 4 fuels which will regenerate with the rate of 0.166 fuel/hr but only when it was placed on a parking spot witch can be divided into Non-tradable Parking Spot and can be acquired by completing various achievements while the the Tradable Parking Spot that can be sold to the market can be obtained through events and giveaways.
When it comes to the cars, each one will have what its called Performance Points (PP) which determines the acceleration, top speed, handling and brakes of the card and there are two ways to improve them. The first is to Level-up them by using the cars frequently but was not permanent and would reset if the car is sold to the market. The other is to Combine 3 cars of the same model that will give permanent upgrade to the cars PP but would cause the other two to be burned which means that they will be gone forever and would decrease the overall supply of the cars.
The game style would be would be at 2D which means that the tracts, the cards and the parts would be designed to be in 2D but I think it's alright since the game was just on its early stage and there were very few browser games that was made with such high graphics to begin with. This will also allow the game to be playable to devices with lower specs since the game would not eat much resources.
First Collection: Ignition Containers
With the game soon to start, RaceValley also introduces its first collection called Ignition that comes with 6 different car models of different rarity with customizable parts. There will also be an airdrop which I supposed will be dropped to those who buy a certain number of containers.
There will only be 60,000 containers in total with 9,000 set aside for the pre-sale and 1,000 for giveaways. The rest will be sold on the general sale together if there will be any remaining containers from the giveaway. As for their giveaways, we have this Contest which was introduced to me by @shawnnft and they were also holding tournaments on Splinterlands which I think is a great way to endorsed their game by onboarding players from other platforms.
As for what type of cars this containers have, aside from Hikari Rius for a rare drop, but the rest remains to be a question mark. I just hope that they released all the cars before the pre-sale so that it can hype up the people as well as to show the specs of this cars.
But when it comes to customization, they have shown how a Hikari Rius can be different with each other with parts customization. This would give some individuality even for the same cars but I think it would also be great if the parts would have a rarity of their own and would potentially increase the price appreciation of the cars or would make it more appealing for people who wants to collect them.
Tokenomics
As a web3 game, one hurdle that they usually face is to find utility for their token to keep its value and prevent the token to inflate the market and for that, I think RaceValley was going on the right direction with their token system witch consist of 2 types of token.
The first one is Bolt for their governance token. Token holders will have the power to vote on important decisions related to the development of RaceValley and staking it would incentivizes players to earn more rewards.
Rusty is the name of their utility token and can be used to by items to the marketplace wherein every transaction will burn a portion of the token.
- Unpolished Rusty - The token that can be earned through playing the game and has the same value as Rusty and can be used with the same or together with rusty but in order to withdraw it, it must be Polish first and would take 10 days to finish process with the have of it converted while the other half is burned so if you withdraw 100 Unpolished Rusty, after the process, you will only get 50 Rusty so that the token would not be inflated in the market and maintain its value.
Game Suggestions
As the game was still on its early phase, I do not an idea what the developers have in mind but with them saying that the gameplay that we will be having for when the game was launched will only be the first game concept, I assume that there will be more modes that will be introduced as the game progress. That said, I have some suggestions that the developer might consider as they developed the game.
Environmental Conditions
This would act similar to Rulesets on Splinterlands where there the environmental conditions could affect the game. An example would be if it is raining which will make it hard for the card to maneuver or if it Snows gaining maximum speed takes longer.
Performance Points Cap
This one works similar to mana cap where one or a combinations of stats would have would be capped for the race. For example, you can only use a car with a maximum speed of 120 mph and handling of 50 but the brakes and acceleration would not be capped. This encourages players to use different types of cars.
Racer Characters
Another suggestion I have is to add racers which can be either unlockable through achievements or giveaways which would give additional stat boost to the car. The team could also make a story for this characters, giving them a lore.
Adding Boosters and Takedown Button
Playing racing games such as Need for Speed or Burnout series, it would be nice if they can implement a boosting system where the nitro can be gained through perfect drift or navigation to further gain speed superiority within the race. It would also be nice to have a takedown button that would attempt to crash the nearest car in front of you which give it more challenge since being on the front also means you are in a danger to be taken down by your opponent.
Adding Music Soundtracks
This was just a wishful thinking for me but to have a more feel to the rush of the game, adding various soundtrack would be nice like what most web2 racing games have though I know it would be hard to obtain license specially on popular music so what if maybe finding songs within RisingStar
Conclusion
As time goes by, hive was becoming bigger and better with the number of applications that you can use same with it's community and for that, we also need to add some other things that will make Hive more enjoyable and RaceValley, being the first racing game on the Hive Blockchain, will be a new way for that and to attract a different type of player base to the ecosystem.
And that was the end for my post. This is me @saydie signing off.

Hey great suggestions Saydie. I've shared with the rest of the team . They might add some of those suggestions who knows
cool! but it would be more fun if it was free to play instead of token gated!
Thank you for participating in RaceValley Blog Contest! We appreciate your enthusiasm and would like to thank you for your contribution.
