Producing Resources In The Lands Of Praetoria
Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
As part of this week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge, I'm going to take a deep dive on the Land gameplay.
The Splinterlands Land gameplay was another type of game that focuses on resource management rather than being an Auto- battler using Splinterlands cards as workers in order to produce different types of resources. Currently, it was still on its early stage but was full of potential not only in providing another type of game to the Splinterlands ecosystem but also to help appreciate our Splinterlands assets.
Anyways, this post will walk you through the basics of the current Land gameplay to help you maximize your land's potential using my land as a reference.
Different Land Structures and Land Surveying
The lands of Praetoria is divided into 150 regions, each consisting of 1,000 lands of different rarity and type, making a total of 150,000. Out of this, 136,505 lands are currently surveyed while the rest are remained to be either unsurveyed or unclaimed. This lands are can then categorized based into 3 types which are.
Plots: These are a single piece of land, each with unique characteristics.
Tracts: Areas that consist multiple land plots.
Regions: A collection of different Land tracts.
Each land can the be further categorized through their terrain type which determines which element of cards should be used as workers. Lands also comes in different rarities by which the rarer the land, the more amount of resources that it can produce.
Aside from the element, another thing to consider when selecting the cards that you want to work on land are their rarity by which the higher the rarity gives a bigger boost on their Production Points as well as if they are gold foil cards or cards that came from older sets. Production Points is the amount of time it takes to produce resources, construct buildings, or do nearly anything else within Praetoria. To calculate your cards Production Points, an easy way is to use the land calculator on Peakmonsters.
Setting Up Your Land
In order to set you land to gather resources, first, you go at the Land on the play Menu. You will then see the whole map of Praetoria and in order to locate the location of your land, select the owned option and it will show you the region where your land is located.
In here, you can see that I have 1 piece of Hills in the Great Lowlands of Tostrington and by selecting the View Plot, it will take me on my land.
Currently, this land was inactive so it does not produce any types of resources so in order for it to start working again, we need to click on Manage so that we can setup the cards that we want to be the workers for our land as well as what type of resources do we want to produce.
Power Source
In order to start the production of land, a power source is needed which can be bought by burning either DEC or DEC-B or as an alternative, we can also use Runi as our power source. As you can see, I decided to rather use Runi to run my land. I also add my The Proven title which gives 10% boost on my Production Points.
Now My land is finally running and is gathering grains which I could claim every hour though the worksite can only hold 7 days of grains and after that, it will not produce more grains anymore until it was claimed.
Different Types Of Land Resources
Grains- This are consumable items that the worker needs to gather resources on land, separate from the power source. Grains can also be traded to DEC and vise- versa through the Trade Hub.
Research- A type of token that will be used in the future land updates to reveal the secrets of Praetoria.
Splintershards- Aside from ranked battles, Splintershards can also be produced on land.
Aside from the different types of resources, Totem Fragments can also be produced on land and can use to combine it to make a Totem which then can also be used to further boost the production of land.
The Future of Land
In the future, one of the goals of land is to be able to produce items and spells which can be used to gain advantage in battles. This is something that I briefly talked about when I made a design for the Yabapmat summoner concept in participation to thepeople's guild challenge.
In this instance, the spell gives +2 additional 2 mana cap when used on ranked battles but for the meantime, new types of resources are planned to be added such as wood, stone and iron for the land 1.75 release. The alpha was shared on the Land Baron discord channel by @cryptomancer which was then shared to us by @aftersound on this Post.
Closing
Currently, I only have 1 land running but with land prices more cheap, I was planning to buy some more that was near where my land is place when they were available. Another reason that I would want to increase my land is to have the Prefix Titles that gives bonus in ranked battles.
Thank you and see you on the next post!
