My Splinterlands Journey to the Lands of Paetoria
Introduction
Hi! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
Today, instead of making card reviews or discussing battle strategies, I'm gonna tell the story of my journey as a Splinterlands player. To be exact, I started my Splinterlands journey on November 29,2021 which means that around 2 weeks from now, I will be celebrating my 2nd year anniversary in the game and has still remained despite the challenges that the bear market has continued to throw at us. I actually made a post about my 1st anniversary before so albeit early, this will be a follow-up with that post.
Celebrating 1 Year of Splinterlands |
Discovery of Splinterlands
It was a chance encounter. Before, I barely have knowledge about crypto but the time during pandemic has given me plenty of time due to the various lockdowns and restrictions to contain the disease and this gives me a lot of time. As I searched trough the web, I got to learn of the game Axie Infinity where people were able to earn a lot of money but does require huge investment to be able to play so I try to find an alternative and come across the NFT Trading Card Game Splinterlands which gets me curious. After watching some streamers on YouTube, such as @stever82 and @aftersound, I tried purchasing a spellbook and started to play Splinterlands.
Duration of Participation
As I have said above, I started playing Splinterlands since November 2021 where the presale for Chaos Legion was just around the corner. I was grinding between bronze and silver league and was earning Chaos Legion rewards card on my daily and season chest. When the presale starts, I bought 10 packs in order to reduce my rental cost and at some point, I started to step up the challenge and climb to gold. By June 2022, I was introduced through the world of Hive blogging by @luke-wtp which was running the Krill Gaming channel and started making blog but it was only by the time of august where I started to be really earning from my content by participating on weekly challenges initiated by @splinterlands. It was also around this time when I became a scholar of Baltazar Guild that bought 1 million USD worth of Chaos Legion packs for their scholarship program. I applied to be a scholar and had used to play for @bltzr-wizard-223 with bronze cap Chaos Legion deck but despite the handicap, I was able to play it competitively even on Silver league and sometimes even reached Gold league where I used my earnings to bought packs to build my collection. Around this time, Riftwatchers was released and through my earnings, I bought a total of 30 packs and together with my Chaos Legion, I finally have a competitive deck of my own which I use to fought in bronze. Later on, that account was removed from me and was replaced by @bltzr-wizard-726 with max level Chaos Legion Core deck and was playing within Diamond and Champion league. This was all thanks to the efforts of @captainwhoco that continues to manage the scholars and pushes us to be more competitive.
Aside from this, I was also the owner of @avainattempt, @crimepoet, and @agonnyaccepted account that was also able to play on high leagues with the help of NFTY Arcade which allows deck delegation without renting by sharing the rewards between me and the deck owner.
Time Spent in Splinterlands
Being an auto- battler, ranked battles on Splinterlands was very fast- phased and as long as I and my opponent where able to send each team, I can quickly skip the battle and proceed with the result without eating much of my time. The teams that we created were already in the blockchain and what we are watching was just a replay of the match so it will not affect the result of the match. It was also a browser game where by using private mode and/or other browser, you can play multiple accounts in one time so at the average, I play for around 1-5 hours at most where I can proudly say that I played this battles manually and without the help of battle helpers. The game can also be played on mobile and have its own app so wherever I have free time, I can play some match wherever I want.
Accomplishments
As I said above, all the accounts I have were played manually which at its own, was already a great feat and despite its guild name, my guild New Bot Order together with @shawnnft played all our brawls manually and always ranks 1st on tier 2 and tier 3 brawls, all thanks to our very good leader @aruchard who give us Dec for our rentals so we can stay competitive. Aside from that, I also have joined many tournaments before by which I have won either DEC, SPS, packs and other tokens though nowadays I got more busy in real life so I can't really spend more any time for tournaments at the moment. Other than this, I also have the following accomplishments.
Leaderboard Accomplishments:
I was also quite competitive as a player and was able to place myself within the leaderboard ranks, mostly at the Diamond league of the modern format and it was not by any means easy. At average, my deck was only composed of Chaos Legion core and rewards card and at most I would rend only a few bronze- silver level Untamed and Riftwatchers card when I do my brawls.
Leaderboard Price: @avainattempt
Leaderboard Price: @crimepoet
Leaderboard Price: @agonyaccepted
Leaderboard Price: @bltzr-wizard-726
Currently, I have won a total of 174k DEC from leaderboard Prices and for this season, my @agonyaccepted account was once again on the leaderboard ranks but there was still 3 days left and anything can happen.
Soulbound Reward Progression
Another great achievement that I have was the continued progress of my soulbound rewards which as we know, was currently unable to be sold or transferred but comprised of really amazing cards. It was not that fast for my main account but since I was mostly grinding with my own cards at bronze-silver league, this progress was justified. Going up with the other accounts, you can see that their common and rares were closing to completion and have also earned significant amount of gold foils.
Blogging Achievements
Aside from playing the game, I also enjoyed creating content on Hive and one of my biggest achievement as a content creator was my concept blog the falls under the banner of Chaos Legion such as the Core cards, Riftwatchers, the CL rewards, the soulbound rewards and the promo cards as well as all the abilities that comes with Chaos Legion. I have not read all the other post or watched all the videos made by others about Chaos Legion but I think I was the only one that has cover Chaos Legion as extensive as this which by far already reached a total of 61 post and would be concluded with 65 post. My initial goal when I created this was so that when new players come in, my post will be all they need to be able to learn about Chaos Legion but at the same time, this also allows me to grow and be competitive as a player.

Upcomming Goals
- Card Assets:
I almost have a complete Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers and Rewards at bronze league so for my future goal in terms of card asset was to also complete a bronze set for Rebellion as soon, Untamed and Dice not be useable in modern which will allow me to be more competitive in the league and perhaps compete in leaderboard. As of this moment, I already have bought 25 Rebellion packs and will plan to buy more.
- Land Goals
If nothing goes wrong, only a few days from now and we will have land 1.5. I own a common hills which I won from @aaros when he did a giveaway on Wasder as was still keeping it until this time and currently, I have 1 lvl 10 GF Pelacor Bandit, 1 GF lvl 8 Twilight Basilisk, 1 lvl 8 Naga Assasin, 1 lvl 5 Djinn Renova and 1 and a lvl 2 Venari Crystalsmith. I plan to be able to able to max the remaining cards for my land and have sufficient DEC for staking them which as of the moment, I have 50k.
Advice for Beginners
If you have just started your Splinterlands journey, the first thing that I would tell to you was that to always do your research first and invest what you are willing to lost as what would other people will advice regarding any other crypto projects. Once you have resolved your mind to purchase a spellbook but still wondering what cards to buy or to rent, you can first try them with the help of NFTY Arcade and when you are looking for a tutorial, you might take my post above as your reference. If you want you can also start blogging to earn.
And that was it for my Splinterlands Journey. I hope you were able to learn something from my story and be able to be your guide as you take yours. Thank you and see you at the next post
