Baby Metal | TTT
Hello to all my fellow music lovers!
It's Tuesday once again and I have some free time so I decided to make my third Three Tune Tuesday post for this year. Last time, I shared music from the electronicore band Electric Callboy. This time, the songs that I will share will be from Baby Metal which is an idol group from Japan but unlike the majority of Japanese idol groups which usually centered at J-pop genre, Baby Metal goes on a the metal niche, something that no one expected from an idol group but they surprisingly nailed it and becomes one if not the most popular idol group that is known not only in Japan but even on western countries, having collaborations with many metal bands like Bring Me the Horizon and obviously, Electric Callboy. Anyways, here are my recommendations.
Megitsune
The first time that I discovered Baby Metal was around 10-11 years ago and it was from this song Megitsune. As far as I remember, I was kind of into Visual Kei bands during that time and for whatever reasons, their song just got mixed up with my playlist and at first, I was in disbelief. Listening on a idol group of 13-14 years old Japanese girls catering to Metal which is a very niche genre of music was a very risky move but surprisingly, they were able to nailed it and since then, I became a listener of the group. It was also very refreshing to hear the way that they mix both western and eastern style music along with the heavy metal tone which I think was what immediately caught the attention of the metal community.
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!!
On the other hand, their song Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!! was one of their previous songs that I often listen the most and is about the power of music to transform and liberate an individual, as well as the idea of embracing one's true self and finding identity through shared experiences like headbanging. The music video for this song was really goofy with a girl discovering a mysterious box containing a legendary neck corset. As she puts it on, she becomes consumed by the desire to headbang, symbolizing her newfound passion for heavy metal music. Aside from the original version which is sung by their center, Sumetal, I also find it enjoyable to listen on the Moametal and Momometal versions that they do during concerts that not shows how the group can perform really well live and have a variety of experience in the same song by changing the singer.
Moametal Version
Momometal Version
I particularly enjoy the Momometal version since Momo did an amazing job in screaming during the transition part.
Pa Pa Ya!
And for the last song, Pa Pa Ya!. was a song in collaboration with the Thai Rapper F. Hero which makes it a mix not only of two different music styles but also a mix of two different language and still surprisingly mixed really well. Just like most of their songs, Pa Pa ya was a very festive music and even though the music video was taken in a live performance, it has a very high quality and makes the audience very involved.
Bonus: Ratatata
I already had my input on Ratata in my previous post so I do not want to plagiarized myself about it aside from the few checks about the song.
☑️ Fun Metal Music
☑️ Disco Theme
☑️ Cute Girls Singing and Dancing
☑️ Heavy Screams
And that was it for this week's #threetunetuesday post. This was a project initiated by @ablaze where everyone was free to share their favorite music every Tuesday. Thank you very much if you made it till the end and you can tell me which song have you liked or was something that you never heard.
See you until next time!
