LOH Challenge #199 Manual Job vs. Homebase Job
I started with my office work at the age of 20. I'd say it was a challenging job with lots of people around and dealing with your superior needed more precaution, focus and alert mind to answer and do whatever task is entrusted to you. I've worked as a secretary to the chairman himself. Thanks to my training. I thought that being a secretary was simple but it was not especially with lots of manpower and clients. First and foremost, you need to know filing and indexing because segregation of papers is important for you to immediately locate what your boss asks you and you need to have a list of his schedules.
In case of urgent matters, my boss would rush inside and I should ready my fingers on the keyboard because he will immediately dictate what's in his mind and he doesn't want to forget it. Luckily, I could type 50-60 wpm at that time. When he's in the mode, he would allow me to do shorthand so I can read it back for any alterations and additional sentences. My colleagues were afraid of him. Lol! I was blissfully blessed to have passed all the criteria so it was not a problem to me at all. More often than not, he would discuss a certain topic then afterwards, he would ask me to draft a letter based on our discussion. Therefore, you should be ready with your English grammar! Business English and legal terms are quite different from literal English composition. Indeed, it was a good training ground for me on that aspect. As a secretary, you should follow the Code of Ethics. First, you should be well-groomed and punctual. As a secretary, I am the "first to attack and the last to retreat"! It was a challenging job. When I worked as a Board Secretary at the legislative office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in our local government, I draft the minutes of the meeting and its excerpts to support any approved resolutions and ordinances for approval and implementation.
That's the big difference when you do homebase job wherein you can choose your own time though it also depends on the nature of your job. Others have "time doctors" installed in which you're being monitored on what you were doing within your contract. It was short while for me for reason that I worked as a freelancer with various clients online. I passed as Academic writer in university level. There's a list of topics for us to choose from. You may grab it if you can tackle the tackle the topic and once you accept it, the timers start to tic-tac and make sure that you can finish it on time else you will get a penalty!
I also got a team of writers way back 2004. We. share our respective assignments via Google Drive spreadsheet for submission. We were required to submit 10-15 articles a day. Proofreading was a straining task. One of my writers plagiarized and I was penalised. Later on, I decided to quit my job and focused on freelancing alone. I've learned doing SEO, newsletters, content, spinning, Syntax, paraphrasing, etc as required by my clients. Spinning is one way of refreshing or updating contents which comes first when researchers look for resources via Google. Using the right keywords is important when you do article writing making SEO a powerful approach in article writing. The same goes with manual writing. Repeating keywords in a paragraph is considered redundancy. It also depends on your client as to the density of the keywords to be used in the article and/or newsletters. To date, I am more relaxed with blogging on hive because I am more relaxed and able to choose my own time. Blogging with the Hive Community has a personal touch especially the Ladies of Hive Community, Silver Bloggers, AseanHive, Foodies Bee Hive, Needleworkmonday, DIY, etc.
Working online is a matter of choice when employment seems scarce in the real world. People nowadays live in two different worlds and you can enjoy the best of both world!
Thank you for dropping by my page.
Manual job is quite challenging and enjoyable at the same time if you know how to dance with the tune. You can interact with different people and also a change in your environment. And the part I love the most is you're always in your best aura when coming to work😁♥️
Indeed. It's the real world after all.

but your experience was a bit toxic, 10-15 articles a day is hell. I better stay away from that kind of boss sooner..

Exactly. Have you noticed, our day is never complete without surfing online! As for those articles, it consisted of different topics from various clients. Spinning articles
are boring but it's our job and the fee is good. We're paid per article so if you want to get more, better ask for more. Lol! I prefer academic research because I learn things we haven't encountered during our college days. The sad truth is that it's controlling our system which is a dangerous sign. We may be living in our real world but with our mobiles beside. It's already part and parcel of our daily lives!
