The high Jackfruit

The king of fruit is known as poor man's fruit, but....

This was no where near where I could climb - at least not now.
While coming back from home I decided to pick Jackfruit which are now ready to be ripen. There were couple of them which anyone could pick, cut two of them. But this high Jackfruit was spot on and I found out a help.

At the bottom of the tree, this big one was about to be ready and if you do not know then there are animals who can smell much before we do and they also know how to eat this. We cut it and keep at home for few days and its ready. And if you want it sooner, then put some liquid Limestone to the stem and it will be ready in just 2-3 days - some natural ways of ripening it.

Narayan who is staying at our home came as savior and offered to climb and get it. Initially I thought, he would take a rope and a bag and slide it from the top, but he was pretty confident to not need anything. I was amazed the way in which he quickly climbed and brought it with ease. This is the benefit of being slim - and of course he is pretty younger as well as courageous.

Accomplishments justifies a very happy face.

Kept one at native home and brought two, gave one of them to the person staying next to our apartment along with some mangoes. This year they had no yield from their mango tree because our apartment people cut a big branch of that tree. So I decided to share mangoes with them as much as possible. This is our token of gesture for a good relationship - I now go anytime and grab drumsticks from their tree any time - it's one of a kind which is very tasty.

Do you know Jackfruit is known as poor man's fruit ? So the king of fruits grows in abundance, so much so that, people don't buy them in rural areas and get it free from neighbors. So the economically weaker section use it widely. But the health benefits it offers has now made it popular in cities as well. It has so many health benefits : provide instant energy, can reduce blood sugar levels preventing diabetes, improve vision, can cure anaemia, digestion problems, can prevent bowl cancer as well as cardiovascular diseases. It can regulates blood pressure as it contains high amount of potassium but then people who have chronic kidney diseases will have adverse impact for this reason. However Jackfruit seeds do not have the same problem - almost everyone can eat them with lot of health benefits. It can be preserved for long time and kids love it - sweet and tasty. So if you do not like Jackfruit then try the seeds - you will thank me.

And do you know we have queen of fruits and even princess of fruits ? 😀

There's something about how stretchy the fruit is that doesn't sit well.

That fruit is gigantic, undoubtedly a great harvest, but it created, you should have shown how it is inside, since it is curious for those of us who know very little or nothing about said Jackfruit. It also offers us multiple health benefits.

The height where the fruit grows is impressive, a great height and you have to be very careful when going up and down, the way they have to ripen it with a little liquid limestone on the stem is very interesting.

I have never tasted this fruit and you have made me very curious, especially after reading about the beneficial qualities it has.
Unfortunately where I live I have never found this fruit in supermarkets and fruit shops but I will do a search to see if I can find it here in Italy

It's really high. I knew someone who's jackfruit tree is quite low, and the fruits are reachable by hands. Others are almost touching the ground.

Wow, there's jackfruit. This is one of my favorite fruit, when I was a child, my grandmother still had a jackfruit tree in my house. There are so many jackfruits, and almost all of my neighbors get them when they are fruiting. Apparently, jackfruit has become the fruit of friendship and kinship because it is often shared.

In my place, all parts of the jackfruit are edible. The seeds can be eaten, when they are still young fruit can also be processed into delicious vegetable dishes, and when they are ripe of course the taste is also sweet and delicious.

Yes, we too use it in all forms, the young ones for curries , the ripen one and the seeds. The seeds are delicious and can be preserved for long time.

Narayan has a lot of guts to climb that high. I've never heard of Jackfruit before, it's the size of a large watermelon. I'm surprised that with it being so large that it doesn't drop from the tree.
The health benefits are many. Anytime we can consume something that grows naturally and provides so many health benefits rather than swallow a pill, the better off we will be.

Wow that is some massive fruit! I've only been to India once when I was much younger, and of course did not try jackfruit while I was there. Will have to come back just to give it a try! And also because I'm sure India is much different today than it was 15 years ago, plus there are so many places to check out (I've only been to Mumbai).
