SLOW THINGS DOWN....
What are some ways you slow things down in this fast moving world ?
The fast moving world needs us to slow down at times. This week's KISS PROMPT in the The MINIMALIST community coincides with my plan, so I thought, I would share my experience from a minimalist standpoint.
In this fast lifestyle, we often tend to get more out of life, by working hard towards our goal, and it increases our anxiety level, without we realizing. Slowly it converts to stress, bringing more trouble, and unfortunately there has been no clinical test to measure our stress level, though I believe smart watches have some mechanisms to measure, but I am not a big fan of these gadgets. And more ever, there is no medicine that can prevent our stress, so it's all upon us to decide the best for ourselves.
Thankfully I have a soulmate who cares to remind me often to slow things down and not try to be perfect in everything - some bad habits I have inherited from childhood. In today's world, perfection is over kill, because there are so many things, that is beyond our control, and we cannot shape up everything as we need. And for some, the goal also changes with time, we desire to earn more, have more assets, provide better facilities to our kids. And in that process, we forget to enjoy what we have - the lady is very constrained in this matter that helps me a lot. She is the one who drags me, and I can say, it is for good for all of us - I thank her often for that.
Movie is our best option to relax for some time, slow down from the fast lifestyle, at a minimal cost. Travel is another hobby that we all like, but that needs a lot of planning and the cost is also high. This year, all travel plans are on hold for the kid's exam.
Shopping is another way to spend some time and slow down, but we prefer affordable shopping. The boy is very economical in this matter, and that is the reason we try to buy only what we really need - no unnecessary spend.
She loves to go out, and enjoy every moment, but she is very conservative on shopping as well. So together we decide to spend time enjoying the ambience, some food.
You won't believe, the kids know about all the offers, and save every penny. They are pretty good in finding offers online, ordering online and then taking the delivery there and sharing.
And we order only what we can eat - no waste - this plate was enough for both of us.
Do you know Baskin Robbins has offers on 31st of month, giving a 31% discount ? Of course its applicable in the month having 31 days, but kids discovered that and we plan to go on those days, as we love it.
And if we are not going out, we watch a movie together at home - watching together has a different charm. The lady does takes care of interval, providing us snacks / food.
As we get older, we realize there are certain limitations that we have to accept, and slowing down and acceptance is the key for a happy and healthy living. What are your ways of slowing down ?
And before I wind up this, I must tell you, trying to write a post on hive everyday also makes me anxious, so I have decided, to not overkill and force to write everyday. Now that we have holidays, it's possible to write, but in busy days, it's very difficult, as I always have more work and less time. What's your thought on this ?

I do love KFC. That's some good stuff. I just had it a couple of weeks ago. I don't get it nearly as often as I used to. My wife and I try to go camping a lot in the summer, that's probably the time that we really get a chance to slow down a bit.
What a beautiful reflection! It’s great that your soulmate is helping you slow down and appreciate the little things. It is what one always want and pray to have. Having someone like that by your side is truly a blessing in disguise. We should cherish such a people. Compliments sir.
A very pleasant walk with my beloved family, spending every day with them is certainly an extraordinary happiness, watching movies and eating together is cool my friend.

Life is a struggle, everyone wants to win in this struggle, so they become very fast. You are right that people try their best to get more property and more facilities and Beautiful future for their children. But death stops people and people try until the day before death. Money is not everything in life. Life has to be enjoyed at the same time. Therefore, in the midst of the busyness of life, people sometimes enjoy entertainment and relaxation. Shopping, traveling, watching movies, walking in nature, and playing sports can bring peace to life, at least to some extent. In a fast-paced world, people are becoming more robotic and stress is increasing. People are losing their emotions and social relationships are decreasing, and social distance is increasing. We should take a break from our busy lives and spend some quality time with our family, friends, and neighbors.

I think it is necessary to write every day in Hive. It is a bit challenging, but when you take a break from writing, it is also difficult to start again. It takes a lot of effort to start again. I think writing once a day is ideal.
When I want to slow down time, I turn off my computer and phone and pick up a book. Or, if the weather is nice, I go to my garden, lie down on a sun lounger and listen to the rustling of the leaves of my trees, look at the sky and slowly sip a glass of white wine.
This is really important to slow down...and spending time with family is the best 😀

Family time sounds like the ideal way to slow down and isn't fabulous when the kids find the offers? Our sons used to research free activities at the weekend and that's what we would do.
We can only manage the stressful nature of life by slowing down with some work. Beautiful collection of you and your family.
I agree, life is stressful nowadays, but there is a parameter to measure it, cortisol in your blood, high cortisol means lot of stress

Having a understanding life partner is blessing in disguise. They always make life best for us and give life a new dimension. At the end it is the famiky that matters most and help us to live mindfully by removing stress, anxiety and all kind of troubles.
It's nice to see you've been spending a lot of time with your kids. Be with them always. I admit, time's pace is difficult to catch up. Even when you're doing nothing, time is still so fast.
Loved the concept itself of the idea you've argued here.
It's good to pause from work and other activities, enjoy life with family.

whenever you feel stressed, take pause, sit down, close your right nostril(surya nadi needs to be closed), and try breathing in and out through your left nostril(chandra naadi), do this for 5 mins, and you will feel relaxed.
Most of our stressful life has a direct bearing on how breathe. Humans have totally forgotten the importance of deep breathing. Slow and deep; that's the way to sustain a calm posture and a deep and fine-tuning of our psychological state. I have experimented on this for more than 3 years.
Tell your kids to focus on their breathing at least 5-10 mins a day and every day. You will see miracle in their memory power Sir. When we meditate on some object, that may not work, because that may not be directly associated with our life, but breathing is indispensable for our spontaneous moment of living. That is why breathing is more lively than any other thing. That is what Buddha is saying(Anapaan smriti), focus on breathing, take it deep, make it slow, make it a habitual disposition, and see the miracle in your life.
Perfection is a false consciousness of our psychology. A perfect world does not exist.

Real meditation is living in the present moment. To test that use the "wall clock" technique
I hope you have a wall clock. Just watch it consciously for 1 minute. also tell your kids to watch it consciously for 1 min. After min, try to note down what are the different thoughts that engulfed your minds during that 1 min period. When you start observing your thoughts, become a witness of your thoughts, your thoughts will begin to disappear. I am sure some different thoughts must have erupted during that 1 min time. If no thoughts engulfed your mind, you managed to consciously see the min hand, second hand completing that 1 min, then congrats you have already achieved a certain state of meditation.
Put simply, we should be completely absorbed in a particular task when we are engaged with it. That can not happen when random thoughts are erupting. If we are conscious of what we are doing at any given moment, then thoughts can not invade our minds. The point is that if we are eating we should be eating only no other thoughts. This habit will be generated when you start from breathing techniques. Because breathing is connected to our mind and thought process. Just observe when you go for deep breathing, you will feel kind of cool, calm and relaxed state, and you are not engrossed with random thoughts.
To testify this I remind you what is state when you are sleeping. When we begin to sleep, every one of us have different kind of breathing, that is deeper, some people also snore, and during that time we sleep. That means deep breathing is making us relaxed and we have been doing this every day. The only difference is that we are doing it unconsciously at night. Now if we begin to do this consciously then also we will feel that kind of relaxation even when we are engaged with our daily routines.
That is how it should be, if random thoughts start disappearing and not engulfing your mind your psychological state will outperform, for students their memory will rapidly rise. That is how Vivekanand also developed sharp memory power. Everything is connected to breathing. Fix your breathing, you will be home.

Certainly, stress is the cause of many diseases today, so relaxing and carrying out daily activities without much hurry brings us benefits not so much for the present but for the future.
The truth is that you have to lead life slowly and without rushing too much when it comes to publishing here in #Hive. I try to do one every day in addition to commenting and voting for other publications, so it causes anxiety, how do you say it, but hey, it is. Part of me works on the platform and I must try, although there are times when I would like to take a break to recharge my batteries.
True enough! Writing everyday is very difficult to do so most especially in busy days... SLOWING DOWN is very important in one's life to have balance in life. Rushing in life invites negative emotions in your life, I guess.
