Diwali Celebrations
The festival of lights brings fortune and prosperity.
Diwali symbolizes victory of light over darkness, and is a famous festival that is celebrated across India. This is a special day that kids desperately wait for to enjoy the crackers. People decorate their homes with Rangoli (colored powders) and flowers, illuminate their homes with decorative lights.
You go to anyone's house, you will definitely be invited with sweets on this occasion.
This year there was rumors about cracker shops being banned, but finally they gave permission on the last day. As I mentioned in my last post, the wholesale shops were open and I brought crackers from there. And then the stick sparkles were missing there, so I went to the nearby market and saw them getting ready to open, waiting for the license.
So they advised to come in the evening or next day.
The price was almost five times of what I got from wholesale shop. This could only be because they were open on the very last day and people had no option. I wished the administration should have done a better job.
And finally the evening approached and the first thing that people do is to decorate their homes with diyas (oil lamps) or candles. Our temple was beautifully decorated with diyas in the evening, seeking the blessing of the God. And then we all gathered at the front space to enjoy the crackers, socialize and have fun. Watch the video to feel it yourself.
To all our residents, whom I have not been able to capture on this occasion, please feel free to insist me capture you on frame. I was busy in keeping a vigil eye on the kids, and at the same time sparkle some light to take these photos, so my mind was little occupied with that.
All photos shoot with Sony Alpha 6400 E-mount Camera with APS-C Sensor (ILCE-6400M). For the first time I realized, I should have taken more videos as not many photographs were great because of smoke everywhere. Considerable amount of time taken to choose these good ones and compile the video for a not so good editor. A new learning, to try only on next Diwali. And by the way, we are supercharged now to be getting ready for our next mega event, the New Year. These real socialization makes our living colorful and memorable.

No wonder I was hearing fire crackers last Sunday night. I saw the kids are happily playing 🤩
The decorations on the doorway are so beautiful 😍
Happy Diwali 🪔
Happy Diwali, people spend the entire day to put that decoration, that's the level of dedication.
It’s worth it 😍 If it only happens once in a year then it’s worth spending more time to it. It really is beautiful.
So interesting to see Divali celebrated in another country! Looks quite similar to how we do it in Trinidad except the people here put the earthen pots EVERYWHERE even lining the streets with them on bamboo arches. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Seems people there also believe in what we do - victory of light over darkness ?

I can see and borrow so much joy from you and your friends and family even through this one post. Makes me want to visit again.
Prosperity and victory over dark for you and your family my friend.
May this Diwali bring good health, prosperity and fortune for you and your family.
This festival is truly a great festival in India, the price will be expensive because some people selling before will not be able to meet up at the last minute.
Things could have been better managed, but what can we do as a common citizen.
How are you dear friend @sanjeevm good morning
It's no surprise that your children look forward to these celebrations, because they don't like sweets.
What a beautiful celebration, very colorful and bright.

Happy Diwali.
kids always find different ways to enjoy.
It seems you are having a lot of fun on this day.
Keep enjoying Sir.
Ya, so many people at one place and socializing, that's the best part.
Celebration of good over evil, is observed across faiths for five days with gatherings for prayer, feasts, fireworks displays here in Durban.
The closest temple is two kilometers from our home, Illovo Maha Vishnu Temple. Every year we know to prepare the animals as fireworks still allowed from sunset to midnight.
South African custom respects all religions, as far as I am aware Durban still the largest population of Indians outside of India. Celebrations will happen in every town and city where many join in the festivities.
Enjoyed seeing your local enjoying, looks very similar to what our residents do. Wishing you and your family a happy Diwali.
That's so nice, to hear that you have similar celebrations there, Happy Diwali to you and your family.
Friends always open to us joining in celebration of light festivities.

First of all i would like to say you happy Diwali all of you. Have a nice day. All the decoration is very beautifully done and all the things and the house are decorated in a very beautiful way. By the way, among the things that you people decorate in Diwali, the best decoration seems to be the decoration made with lamps. If I am not mistaken, these are handmade ?
Happy Diwali!
What a nice celebration.
My son, who is studying in the US, was invited by a friend to a dinner to celebrate Diwali and he told me it was a so beautiful celebration.
Thank you for sharing your traditions, cheers!
Such festivals are very special, people get a chance to enjoy together and chat with each other. And the meeting does not take place and the way we see in the video all the people are celebrating festival with great joy.
I imagine it is an incredible festival and more so when it comes to the victory of Light over Darkness and the best thing is that cookies and sweet foods are shared among friends.
