Can we increase our motivation?

The first thing to do when educating about motivation is to explain how complex it can be to develop a concept of motivation that is up to the expectations of anyone who is looking for success and even want to improve their quality of life.

Due to what has been previously explained, I want to establish as the main objective of this post, to be able to develop an article in which the reader can understand how to increase their motivation simply by asking some self-reflection questions.

Can we boost our motivation?

In terms of education, both students and teachers can enhance motivation, that means that there are some strategies that help us that our motivation can reach above values that we consider normal, and that in turn helps us to achieve greater performance in the facets of teaching and learning.

Returning again to the fact that to enhance our motivation we can use as a strategy to ask ourselves questions of self-reflection, I can tell you that this simply consists of being able to be more aware of analyzing the context in which we are located when we want to enhance our motivation.

The objective of asking ourselves a series of self-reflection questions is with the simple objective of exploring and knowing if we are located in the context we want to be at the moment of boosting our motivation. This is because suddenly we are under a context that is not the most suitable to awaken that creativity that 'can help us to enhance our motivation.

Let's think of two questions that are exploratory and that are also of self-reflection that can help us to place ourselves in a certain level of context:

Where and with whom am I?

Are they supporting me or, on the contrary, hindering me?

Let's imagine that as a mathematics student we find ourselves studying in a group of several people, we are in a library room where there are only history and geography books, apart from that, the group of people with whom we want to study does not like mathematics.

It is impossible that in the place where we are, with only geography and history books, and surrounded by people who do not like mathematics, we can enhance our motivation and be able to learn mathematics at higher levels.

Logically the support is not going to be the best, with students who are experts in geography and history it could be very demotivating to learn mathematics.

In conclusion, I can tell you that many exploratory and self-reflection questions can help us to understand that we are neither in the context nor the level of competencies that can help us to enhance our school motivation.

To enhance our motivation we must reflect on the fact that we must raise certain levels and go climbing until we find sufficient motivation to achieve our goals.
