Hive Onboarding - So Much to handle on the Wheel
Hello everyone,
It's been a busy new week. I thought I would rest after the marathon chess event. However, I find myself spending so much time onboarding new users.
As I explained the last time, I have started onboarding my friends on Hive. In my last post, I shared my plans on how I hoped to accomplish this. This post is just a short update on the previous one as I want to highlight some key factors and problems new users face, Here are two things I have learnt today while trying to drive new users on Hive
Understanding the User-Interfaces is not so easy
"Oh, I love Ecency", "Hivesigner isn't working", "Leofinance is slow" and "Peakd is too complicated" - One minute I'm trying to explain the different apps, and the other I'm noticing issues that I have never experienced before.
My friend's iPhone couldn't access the Ecency web but could access Peakd and leofinance, isn't that strange?
Hivesigner wasn't working for an hour or two and I was pretty sure it wasn't a connection problem.
Hive. blog seems to work perfectly but I don't use it much so I don't recommend it.
I don't know if I should stick to using one interface for the introduction or teaching all of them at once and they make their choice!
What Dapp do you use the most to Blog?
It's funny because I use them all, they all have something I like. For example, I love the market conversion on Hive.blog but I don't like making a post there. One reason is that it reminds me of my unproductive steem days :)
While I know these apps are constantly being developed and there are changes made, I still feel it can be complicated and a bit frustrating to operate by new users. The irony is that it can't get simpler so we have to deal with it.
A Perfect Introduction Post
When I joined steemit, I wrote an introduction post more than once. After writing, I always felt the need to write some more about myself so I ended up with multiple introduction posts and no one cared.
Things have changed and things are alot different on Hive now. Introduction posts mean alot, it's like a chance to tell the world what you can offer and what you are all about. It goes beyond your name and where you are from. Personally, I think names are not important as one of the reasons Hive thrives is because we learn every day not to judge people by their name or where they are from but by the value, they have to offer. These and more I try to explain to the newbies I'm onboarding.
So far the last two people I onboarded spent a lot of time drafting their introduction posts as it indicates purpose which I think is necessary for growth.
Hive is structured in a way that people would welcome you even if you write a 100-word intro. But is that the introduction we need to know you?
A perfectly written Introduction goes a long way!
In Conclusion...
Understanding the UI styles and designs can be difficult for newbies. Some find it very difficult to login. Ecency looks a bit more friendly and easy but for some reason, it could only be accessed by the app on some devices.
As I go on in my onboarding journey, I would give updates on my discoveries. You can check my blog for my friend(s) introduction posts, I would be reblogging them as they come. Feel free to welcome them to the chain.
I am @samostically, I love to talk and write about chess because I benefited alot from playing chess. sometimes I share my thoughts on life in general and I write about my love for hive!

Quite true with what you said about those various platforms, leofinance, peakd, eccency and hiveblog. It is even strange that most of these platforms come with their unique advantage and annoying disadvantage as well, but for me, I have chosen to stick with Peakd cause in one twisted way or another, their USER INTERFACE is really friendly and it's gradually growing off on me.
Well, you told me about Peakd so for now that's my go to dapp. Not like I know any other though 😅. It feels good to be here! And you know I love a good ride 😉
Welcome my friend! Please it is important you make a good intro post!
Yes! Will do my best to
