The movie William Tell really made my day this saturday afternoon. After a stressful week, I retired to my home to see a movie that's full of intrigues and action. Though not really a movie where gun is being used, but it's full of action and intrigues. The movie William Tell as wriiten and directed by Nick Hamm is a movie to watch over and again and this is because of the story line and the settings of the movie. Which was in the past where we have chiefdoms and kingdoms in existence.

My love for such movies stems from my love for history. History is one thing that connects the past to the present and not only to the present alone, but to the future. And as we can see in the movie, we can really saw history at the center of every of the scenes of the movie. Also, we cannot also talk about the movie without mentioning the heroic part being played by the characters as used by the playwright. Almost all the characters played major roles in the movie. Such characters include, Tell himself who has to be the protagonist of the movie, Gessler the kings messenger, who always went about to destroy the swiss, we also have Walter, Tell's son, Suna his wife, Gertrude, wolfshot, Baumgarten, King Albert, Queen Agnes, Rudenz, Bertha and others. These names mentioned really played their role to the best of their ability.

THE REVIEW.

This movie William Tell, is all about the fight for freedom from a tyrannical rule of a ruler. This fight for freedom was from the swiss who were tired of the tyrannical rule from the Austrian ruler king Albert who has always tormented the swiss with his tax by his tax collector in the person of Wolfshot that was killed by a farmer named Baumgarten as a result of his act of rape and eventual killing of the farmer's wife.

Not only this, the ensued pursuance of the farmer who killed Wolfshot by the troops who accompanied him to the small town made the man fled to another town where he was rescued amidst the ravage storm to another place where he was being hid from the Austrian who came for him through Gessler who was sent by the King of Austrian, King Albert. Though, they came to the house of Gertrude and stauffacher, but he could not be found as he has disguised as only of the worker in the house.

But as soon as they left, Tell, Gertrude and her husband decided to form a united front against the Austrian, which was well planned out and with the help of a priest called Furst, whom they all went to, to finalize the coming together of all the swiss just against the Austrian.

Also, in one of the villages, a trap was set up by Gessler and his troops where they put an helmet on the stick or wood, and they commanded that anyone that passed through the place must bend their kneel in honor of the king. But, Tell would not do this and as a result, he was asked to shoot a bow on the apple placed on his son's head which he first decline. His declination led to Baumgarten death after his confession to the killing of the tax collector. It's this that led him to taking the task of doing what was asked of him to do just to free himself from not kneeling for the helmet place on the tree as he has said he can't kneel for anyone. Also, those who accompanied Gessler in the person of Bertha and Rudenz also opposed him and he got Bertha arrested.

He also got Tell arrested to and both were to be transported to the Austrian city via water. It was in this process that a storm sank the boat and also, Rudenz who has pledged allegiance to the Austrian also retracted his allegiance with the swiss. So, all these led to them all forming a united front with themselves and they fought the Austrian for their freedom, but that's was not the end of the war as another war was initiated by the Queen Agnes who succeeded king Albert that was killed by his niece, named Bertha.

VERDICT FOR
The movie was full of loyalty, with people being loyal to the course they stood for. They were so loyal to the point of death. This can be seen in the life of Bertha, whom being treated to a royal life in Austria was not carried away by the royal treatment, but shown his loyalty to his mother land which was Switzerland in the movie.

Love is another thing that makes the movie to be an interesting one, we can see this in the family of Tell and other family such as the Baumgarten family and that of Gertrude. The kind of love that existed between Rudenz the swiss prince and Bertha is another thing that makes the movie a point of call for watchers. The love for one's country in the movie can't be overemphasized as well.

The picture and the cinematography was so clear and clean.

VERDICT AGAINST
One of those things I hate about the movie is the tyrannical attribute of the Austrian, the exercised their absolute power on the swiss by tormenting them.

Also, the killing of the innocent soul at will in the movie was too much and this is also due to the tyrannical nature of the Austrian.

Betrayal is another highlight of the movie, this can be seen in the way Rudenz betrayed his swiss origin for the Austrian just for the love he has for the princess of the Austrian. Not only this, we can say that the princess also betrayed his fatherland of Austria.

I will like to rate the movie 7/10.
