My Music Preferences and Reasons
Music are food to the soul. It speak directly to the inner person to excite, thrill and educate the soul. It grant inner peace and take sorrows away. Birds are known for this special gift which they use to commune and work together for common goal.
Apart from that wonderful voice, it can be accompanied with musical tune from numerous instruments. In this era, There are computerized equipments which contain several tune from instruments and their mixer on which great orchestra of voices or bits for award winning music.
To be involved with music, many of these successful musicians and artists are talented and skilled on those instruments without formal education and training. But many other professionals in the industry. They are highly educated and professionally trained.
There are two genre of music that I enjoys at all time. They are magnificent and special. They are indigenous to me and can relate to their lyrics. One of them is afrobeats. It originally from Nigeria and it's tunes are worship in all the world. It was lead and popularized by the creative works and records of late Fela kuti.
He was very special and fearless. As an activist, He used this kind of music to educate and express himself on how he feels while looking at the African problems and their activities of corrupt politicians. He talks of environment and services of police and other law enforcement agencies. He was sanctioned, bitten and flogged many times. His mom's death can be attached to this maltreatment. But his voice was heard and still appreciated till today by younger musicians in that music genre like Wiskid, fela's sons, Burnaby, Rema, Asake etc. They are all celebrated musicians all over the world.
Another kind of music is known as the highlife. It's popular in the southeast part of Nigeria among the Igbo ethnicity. It's very rich with cultural and historical forklore where stories are tell and narrated in a way that will inspire and educate oneself. Many early musicians like Oliver de coque, Maduka, Osita etc preform this kind of brand but currently Phyno, Flavour etc are leading.
CONCLUSION
There are several reasons of listening and enjoying these great tunes. They are for educational purposes where topics and themes are discussed under an inspiration. Bob Marley, Fela, Lucky Dube are few of the musician of international repute whose works and music teaches a lot of lessons which aids many protest and advocacy for better living.
Historical and cultural lessons are melodical expressed for the pleasure of the people. They get to know many facts that really express their identities and values.
