The Power Of Teamwork To Make Dreams Work
One of the things that facilitate success in many aspects of life is teamwork. The truth is that you are very limited when judging from your individual abilities because of your obvious weaknesses and flaws, but when you form a team with people who have strengths in your areas of weakness, you will achieve more. This is why I believe that in order to achieve more, then you have to focus on creating or being part of a good team. If a broomstick stands alone, it can easily be broken and it will not achieve any use for sweeping. But when the same broomstick forms alliance with other broomsticks, they will become useful for sweeping and will also become almost impossible to be broken. This is the power that is resident in teamwork.
In a teamwork that will work, each individual brings in their own contributions and then forms alliance with others. That is; there is no "I or me" when it comes to a teamwork but there is "we and us." If you watch sports, particularly football, you will understand what teamwork actually means. You can assemble the best players in the world, but if they do not play as a team, a junior team would beat them. To be able to achieve more in football, then each player must act as part of a team. Even though they are to play their wing, but they must be coordinated as a complete whole, not as individuals.
One of the examples of this particular teamwork in football is the last African Cup of Nations (AFCON). If you watched Cote d'Ivoire, you will agree with me that they assembled some serious team. Though if you were to judge by the number of top-rated players on the continent, the Nigerian team would have lifted the trophy because the team was almost star-studded. However, Cote d'Ivoire went on to clinch onto the AFCON trophy, proving that it takes a team to win.
This same thing happened in the 2014 World Cup when Germany won the title. They may have a couple of talented players but some other countries had more. They played coordinated football as a team, not just depending on the individual names. If you watched the match, you would have witnessed a high level cohesiveness between the players from the start to the finish. In fact, they were so good with teamwork that they never lost any match throughout the tournament. They met countries with solid players and stars, like France, Portugal (with C Ronaldo), Brazil (who they scored 7 goals), Argentina (with Messi), etc, and they emerged champions. Power of teamwork.
Asides sports, even in your business, you also need teamwork. In your place of work or your organisation, you have to learn to carry people along for the sake of the collective good of the organisation. You cannot do every single thing without any aid and expect to maximise productivity. Nothing amplifies result like teamwork. In fact, what took you days to achieve can be done in minutes with better result when you do it collectively instead of individually. You have to also understand that everyone in a team is as important as others, so do not look down or undermine the efforts of anyone, so as not to discourage them.
When you value the input of your teammates, even if it looks significantly small to you, you will motivate them to do more. You should also know that the input from one of your team members that you see as being too small may be the hinge on which the others are hanging. Take the human body as instance: you may say that the mouth is too small compared to some other parts of the body, but if it refuses to take food, all the other parts of the body will be affected badly. So also in life, you have to see each person's input as part of their own contributions towards driving the team forward. Always have in mind that a team that must work must be built upon a collective effort and not just based on individuality.
