The Future In The Now

One of the things that I have understood about life is that the future is heavily dependent on the activities of the present. If you have had the privilege to undergo some farming activities, you will understand that the quality of the fruit that you will harvest from your farm is a function of the quality of the seeds that you have sown. What you expect to see in the future should start from what you do today. This is why I normally tell people that "your tomorrow has already started today." If you do not maximise what you have in the present, you may not actualize "tomorrow."

What you do today is like the building blocks that will create your future. There are areas where you need to be mindful of, which will determine how your tomorrow will be and we shall take a look at them. The first one is time. Time is part of the fabrics that create your future. If you do not utilise your time appropriately, you may not experience the kind of tomorrow that you need. Whatever you do, you have to understand that time is of essential value and it is not as limitless as you may think - this is why you need to learn how to utilise yours well. The same number of hours you have is not different from someone else, but what makes the difference is the utilisation.

As a student for example, it is the time you use to study your books that will determine if you will succeed or not. You cannot be putting in study hours of just 20mins a week and hope to achieve the same result as someone else who is putting in 1hour everyday. What you get is a fundamental result of what you give in. Apart from time, you also need to invest your energy and of course, your resources. A good future does not suddenly arrive to you at the press of a button, but it is built over time with conscious efforts and work. Anyone you see that has a result to show also had some sacrifices to make at some point. So before wishing to have their kind of result, make sure you are willing to put in the kind of work they have.

Everyday you live, you should try to remind yourself of the fact that the foundation of tomorrow has to be built today. This will enable you to take timely actions. Every action you take today, your choices, decisions, and even your inactions are part of what shape your future. Whatever you want to happen tomorrow has to begin from today. If you do not take timely actions, you may miss out of the blessedness of what the day carries. What you have to do today should not be left till the future, otherwise the result may be affected negatively. In creating the future from the present, you need to do away with procrastination.

It is true that some people may be waiting for the supposed perfect time to take an action and at the end, they will not see it and they will not take any action. Even though you may not have the entire support you think you will need, just start from where you have. By starting early, you will be surprised what you can cover. What you do at the start of the day will determine what the rest of the day and the subsequent days will look like. You may not have had the kind of past that you had intended to, but you can have the kind of future that you want by the actions you put in. The future you seek is already closer than you think but your actions will determine it.

One of my friends once said that "the great people who have achieved greatness did not just sit and wait for the stars to align." If you want greatness in the future, then you have to act and do so with timeliness. Take the step with what you have and from where you are and with the resources available and see how the other things will align for you. If you understand that you are solely responsible for the outcome of your tomorrow, you will act better today.
