Starting On A Good Note

It is true that the year has begun and this is the second day, so your plans for the new should have already kicked off too. If you think there is still time, may I remind you that many others are already taking a shot at their targets. It is what you do now at the infancy period of the year that will determine how the rest of the year, and even beyond, will turn out to be. This is why you have to start on a very good note. A friend of mine once made this particular statement:

You will know a good journey by the first step

What this means is that the good result you want to see should start by taking good actions today.

No matter the kind of speed you are on, if you are not enroute in the right lane, you will not get to your destination. As a matter of fact, speed is only an added advantage to the person enroute in the right direction, not the person going on the wrong and opposite direction. You will be surprised that a lot of things that people conclude as "they do not matter" are actually the things that eventually matter to someone's success. If the year will be great for you, then you have to learn to take right and timely actions. Delaying an action and saying "it does not matter" may ultimately defeat the aim and proposed result of the action.

If you have ever had the privilege of watching blacksmiths work on metal, you will understand why the difference between someone getting the right result or not is dependent on timing. When they heat the metal to a red-hot degree, it will become soft and workable, and when the blacksmith strikes it with the hammer, it will be easy to take the desired shape - that is also the reason why they will have to heat the metal before working on it. Imagine if he waits for the metal to become cold before he strikes it with the hammer, what do you think will happen? Obviously, it will not be shaped, and any further pressure might break the metal. So time matters.

If you want a good result, then you must not hesitate to undertake right actions and do it timely. The truth is that you are not a product of what is happening around you but what is happening within you. The decisions you take today and the complementary actions that follow them will go a long way to determine the future of the year for you. If all you are planning to do this year are exactly the same things that you did last year, then do not expect to be met with a different result from what you saw last year.

If you are looking for an employment for example, a good step you should take is to submit your applications. If you keep hoping for a good job to fall on your laps without taking the necessary actions, you may wait for long or even in vain. Similarly, the dreams you have for the year and the plans for them may be good, but to make them to become reality, actions should be taken and the action should be rightly and timely done. The little step that you take today, even if it looks small, might be a giant stride that may turn your life around.

What many people may regard as milestone achievements at this moment also started with just a seemingly small step that was turned to a giant stride. Even when humans made their way to the moon, Neil Armstrong (the first human to step feet there) also recognized the step as a giant leap, and it turned out to be so - obviously, many lunar explorations have resulted from that singular step. So you see, as you take steps today and continue at them, success is sure to come, as long as the steps are right and taken rightly at the right time. Always remember that the time is now to take that long-awaited step.
