Fashioning Your Life After Your Core Priorities

One of the things that you need to understand about life is timing. In this present world, because of how fast everything seem to be going, there appears to be a conflicting demands from work, social obligations, your family, etc, which will be craving your attention, but you need to understand that you may not be able to give your undivided attention to all of these at the same time. This is why you have to try to figure out what really matters to you at each given time and then it at that time - this is what priority is all about. By prioritizing the first things to come first, then you are already being intentional about your life and you are fashioning your life after your purpose rather than mere pressure.

In order to facilitate prioritizing your life, there are things you need to understand that will be of help to you. The first thing is to know what your core priorities are at the moment. If you do not know what matters to you most at the moment, you will not even know how to channel your attention to it. You might have more than one thing to do at the same time and you know that multitasking it will not be practicable. What you need to find out is the one that holds more importance to you, and that will be the one to make the top of your priorities. For some people, it might be their career, others might be their family, or work, or social demands, etc.

What you need to know is that the discovery of your core priorities is solely an individual demand. That is, you need to be personal about it. What someone else has as top of their priorities might not even be anywhere near being one for you. So that someone else wants to achieve something does not mean you need to bend your own life to fit into theirs. For a student for example, what matters to them might be to get good grades and graduate from the university. But for someone else who is a government worker, it might just be about their work and career. So do not allow someone else's life's choice to influence your own.

In addition, you also need to reflect on your own life's choices and know if you are actually doing something worthwhile. Take a moment of reflection on your life, your aspirations, your long-term goals, your vision, etc, and then know what matters to you. You need to clearly define what truly gives your life a meaning. This will help you to know what to prioritize. The truth is, you need to come to a point in life when you need to be able to determine the pace of your life. Know that not everything goes for you. No matter what others are doing or how the trend of events are unfolding, you need to be able to determine what matters to you. Also know that priorities can change with time. So that something was urgent on you yesterday does not mean that it will remain so.

You also need to learn the power of being focused. I have come to realise that one of the undoings of a lot of people is distraction. By being focused, you tend to wad off any form of distraction. When you are focused, you will achieve more growth and success. You may want to do a couple of things for the day, but you need to figure out the one that should come first, and then be focused on it first. When you achieve that, then you can move over to the next task. Trying to get everything done at the same time might just slow you done. I am not saying that it is not good to multitask, but you need to know where to do it and where to focus on one task per time.

The last thing you need to know that will help you to prioritize your life is to be intentional with your life. Being intentional about your life means to know how to use your time, resources, energy, and every other thing about you in the pursuit of your dreams and goals. If you must achieve your goals, then you need to learn to put your goals first and be intentional with them. Always have in mind that you are absolutely the decider of what happens to your life.
