Assuming Full Responsibilities
For those that watch boxing, you will understand something: No matter how efficient and experienced the coach is, he will not step into the ring during a boxing match to assist his mentee - the boxer has to be the one to fight his way through and receive the punches. In the end, the boxer will go home with the belt. Applying this to other real life scenarios, you will agree with me that a point will come in your life when you need to take absolute responsibility for the outcome of your life.
It does not matter how much someone may love you, there are things you must do alone. You cannot claim to be mature without assuming full responsibility for your actions. As a matter of fact, maturity is not measured in age but in responsibilities taken.
Over the years, I have interacted with many people and have noticed that physical age does not always correlate to mental age. This is why a teenager can act very maturely while someone advanced in age may behave "childish". Your friends and family may assist you in various things and even to find your ground but you still need your own feet to stand.
Responsibilities do not only cover your actions but your inactions as well. Many people do not know that inactions carry their own consequences too, of which they should bear. It is not uncommon to find people bringing up excuses each time they do not get something done but are quick to take glory if things work. I tell you this, you cannot learn from the mistakes that you always give excuses for.
It is not too bad to make mistake in the course of taking action, at least it is better than not making attempts, but it will become bad if you do not learn from the mistakes so as to be better.
Successful people are not only those that have never seen failure before but it includes those that have leveraged on their past failures to get better. Whatever happens, always try to look for lessons to learn to get better, cos that is what maturity demands.
