Seulawah Dakota RI-001
Good afternoon everyone,Today I will share some photos of the places I've been to in Seulawah Dakota RI-001, an amazing location in Blang Padang Square, Baiturrahman District, Banda Aceh, Indonesia, located 1 km from the city center.
Dakota RI-001 Seulawah aircraft is located in an area with lush grass and shady trees. Therefore, the natural atmosphere at Blang Padang Field made me feel at home when I first arrived here two days ago.
This location is always crowded with locals as well as out-of-town and foreign tourists, especially at night.
Dakota-RI-001 was the first aircraft ever owned by the Republic of Indonesia. However, when flying to Burma at that time, this aircraft could no longer return to Indonesia because it was banned by the Dutch government during the Dutch Military Aggression II, so this aircraft was abandoned.
The Dakota DC-3 aircraft with the wing number RI-001 and the name Seulawah was purchased in the United States from funds donated by the people of Aceh through Singapore in October 1948. However, the Myanmar government had just leased this aircraft at that time.
The Dakota RI-001 Seulawah aircraft, which later became the forerunner of the Indonesian Airways airline and is now known as Garuda Indonesia, was also commercialized for the first time at that time. Due to the situation of Indonesia, which at that time was still in a state of war and armed conflict, the Indonesian Airways office was temporarily located in Burma.
Later, this aircraft was named Dakota RI-001 Seulawah, which was inspired by the name of a volcano in Aceh centered in Seulimeum District Saree Aceh Besar which has a very beautiful mountain.
The mountain was still far away when I was here, about 70 kilometers or 1-1/2 hours away from the capital city of Banda Aceh, so I didn't have time to go there. However, some people say that the name Seulawah was chosen as a tribute to Aceh's contribution because the name evokes images of a mountain filled with lots of gold.
The aircraft, which is similar to the Dakota DC-3, is 19.66 meters long, 28.96 meters wide, and has a top speed of 346 kilometers per hour. The fact that this is a replica of the Dakota RII-001 aircraft should be understood. The original aircraft is currently kept at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta.
A monument commemorating how these planes fought the invaders for Indonesia can be found here. A replica of this plane is supported by the airplane directly below the monument.
A stone with history written on it is also there. Of course you remember the history of this country, and we will again remember how hard the national heroes protected the country of Indonesia.
I appreciate everyone's support, and I'll stop here.
Regarding the photos I used in my post, I took and own all of them.
My respectful regards: @salsayumna
