2024-06-22 - Distriator App Development Updates

Project - Distriator
Show only Invoice based revenue
- @starkerz reported that how a business can have a sudden spike in revenue
- After thorough investigation, I found that it was not related to business revenue.
- I added extra filters to only consider v4v-invoice and keychain-invoice
- With that, we only populate revenue related values.
- These changes are deployed on production.
- Here is the updated graph after filtering out invoice-based-payments.
Rewarding the onboarders
- Idea was to reward onboarders.
- To achieve this, best thing is to look at the account-meta-data
- In account meta data, there is a property called
recovery_account - With this, it is easy to identify, who onboarded the hive-user
- I had to comment out the code which generates reward the onboarder
- Based on discussion with @starkerz, idea was to reward the distriator based onboarders.
- I implemented very generic solution but requirement here is to implement onboarding & reward those who onboard businesses & hive-users via those businesses.
- I also commented out the code which transfers the reward to onboarder
- As soon as distriator based sign-up is in place, we'll re-enable this.
Updated Memo for Rewarding Trusted Guides
- Based on discussion with @starkerz, I've updated the memo
- Now memo includes very little but subtle details to give guides idea about what is the incoming reward is for.
- These changes are deployed.
A Test Payment for testing changes
- Of course, after pushing the changes I had to test.
- So, I used my test account with a test-business-account
- I generated an invoice via #v4v app & made the payment.
- After that, I claimed using distriator.
- Here is how it looks. Following indicates the changes in memo but note that the memo is for onboarder, which is also same as trusted-guide.

- I support several contests hosted by different communities.
- I reward them with Hive-Power-up for the contribution that they have made on communities on Hive.
- We keep transferring portion of hive power to different users on Hive for encouraging them for their contribution on Hive.
- Those who respond to our replies, we also reward them with different tokens like PIZZA, BEER, LUV

- I'm running 12 powerful video encoder nodes for 3Speak Community Members.
- Monthly internet bandwidth usage which exceeds 15 TB, Maintenance cost, Electricity backup, Internet backup, Depreciation cost - it's all on me.
- On 2024-06-22, 3Speak published total 112 videos.
- My video encoder nodes encoded 73 videos from 112 videos published.
- It means, my encoder nodes encoded 65.18 % of total videos published on 2024-06-22

It's fascinating to read updates like this, because it gives a really useful insight into the costs of the services you provide. Because of my accountancy training, I always find Hive proposals frustrating because their business cases are missing so much info, but seeing data like this helps to round out the picture of what witnesses have to spend in relation to the HBD they earn from it. It's a shame we can't have proposals that refine the way Hive is governed.
Right now, the top 20 witnesses reap good rewards for their work, but it's a sharp cut-off. I'd love to see either the number of top witnesses scale up and down by some metric (daily transactions, market cap, Hive price, something like that...) or even better, make the rewards a sliding scale with a more graduated transition into the top 20. That way, more active witnesses cover their costs which gives us a better ability to scale if (say) a new Splinterlands or something came along that bought a surge in processing power needed.
