STB #72 ~` My Aunt's Coffee Habits.
"Welcome Aunty Moyo", I greeted one of my mum's sisters as I helped her bring her bags inside.
"How are you, rukkie?", she asked patting my back as she entered our sitting room.
My mum has informed us that Aunty Moyo will be spending a few days with us and I always love it whenever she visits us because she always brings goodies for me and my sister. I remember that some years back, she loved hierarchy when sharing gifts between my sister and I and this means whenever she gives us money, sweets or other presents, she allowed me to take more of whatever she brought while my sister took the little remainder as opposed to some people who would assume I had to be the "big sister" and take less.
I didn't know why she was staying with us at the time but the weight of her bag indicated she would be spending more days with us than I expected. I was very happy to see her because I felt she understands me more than all my aunts.
Aunty Moyo stayed in our room since we didn't have a spare room, On the second night of her stay, I noticed Aunt Moyo woke up by 1 am at midnight, I was a light sleeper so I watched as she quietly exited the room and went into the kitchen. Afterwards, I heard her talking to my mum but I couldn't make out what they were talking about.
When Aunty Moyo came back into the room, I perceived the smell of coffee in the air, so I knew she just had coffee. Back then, I didn't take coffee as often as I do now but I wondered why she was taking coffee at that time of the morning since it was said to keep people awake. When we woke up hours later,we went by our morning chores and Aunty Moyo also gave a helping hand and when it was time to have our breakfast, I saw that she was holding a cup of hot coffee, I was surprised seeing that she had some few hours ago. But what surprised me more was when she asked me to help her with the salt container, I was wondering what she wanted to do with salt till she added it to her coffee.
"I thought sugar is added to coffee, Why are you adding salt ma?" I asked her while she smiled.
"It's just something I love doing", she replied casually while I watched her reaction as she took the first sip, I expected her to give a funny facial expression but to my surprise she closed her eyes and it seemed she was savoring the taste. It felt weird but my interest was piqued so I decided to try adding salt to my coffee too but it tasted very funny to me. What was I expecting anyway? 😀😀😀😀
I later told Aunty Moyo that I tried out her coffee habit by also adding salt to my coffee, she laughed and told me that everyone has their preference, so I should stick to whatever works for me. She also told me how having coffee at midnight helps her feel relaxed when she finds it difficult to sleep. Shocking right?
Writing this post brought back sweet memories of Aunty Moyo and her weird coffee habits.
My cousin also adds a pinch of salt to her coffee, everyone has got their preference haha

It sure does. Thank you for all your support.
I've heard of folks adding salt into the grounds, but never directly into their cup! That certainly is one unique habit. I'm not sure if I'm tempted or terrified to try it myself 😂☕️
😂😂😂😂 I don't want to try it again.
Thank you for your time here.
I have heard about adding salt to coffee but it is for strong and black coffee and not one with cream.
I am sure I would not want to try such cos I'm all in for the sugar😁
Yes, sugar all the way or just taking it black.
Thank you for stopping by.
You are welcome
I have heard many people who add salt to their coffee. In truth, I haven't tried it yet to know what special flavor it triggers.
Thanks for sharing your coffee story.☕
Happy Tuesday.
Thank you so much for coming around.
Hi! They say that each head is a world of its own and in short, drinking coffee with salt may sound crazy, but if that's what the aunt likes, she will just enjoy the way she drinks her coffee.
BTW.I love your hair, is beautifull 😎
Hahaha, you are right, people should enjoy their coffee however it pleases them.
☺☺☺☺ Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.
This isn't new to me. My friends mum adds salt to hers too. Just a pinch of it. I can't imagine what it tastes like. Imagine adding salt to a cup of tea. Nah, I'll pass.

I know of some really tasty tea from kashmir where they add salt and butter to black tea and it tastes fabulous. But salt to coffee was new to me. Though i can see it probably accentuating the coffee flavor. I should try it.
I am a bit like your Aunt. I can have a cup of hot tea and then fall asleep like a happy camper :D
Thank you sharing about this fantastic person. Cheers from a fellow #dreemerforlife
Salt to coffee? This is a first. I have never tried that. Was it black coffee or the mix with sugar and milk? I’m very curious on how this would taste.

I'm wondering if it doesn't have any effect to the health.
I prefer sugar and I don't think I'll try the salt. 😅

Lol, not you trying out her special recipe😂 Truly, everyone has what works for them.
