Some Changes are Inevitable: Much Simpler but More Happier Christmas Celebration!

A lot has changed already, what we're used to do during the Christmas season has now changed into something simpler, but even if it's like that, the joy we felt during those times is still the same as what we feel in recent years when we celebrate Christmas. It's just that we chose to celebrate it with just a few things on our table and without those colorful Christmas lights that used to make us feel excited. Even if the excitement has gone down, what's important is that we celebrate with joy and gratitude in our hearts.

I still remember during my childhood days when December came and the night mass started. I'm still young at that time, so even if I cry because I don't want to attend because of sleepiness, I have no choice because that's what my mom wants. That time, a little cry will make my mom mad, and if I am stubborn, the more she is determined to make me come. I really had no choice that time, lol.

There are years that we can complete the night mass, but yeah, not all the time. And on the day of Christmas, we will wake up early to attend a morning mass, and I will wear the new dress I have. I had a lot of those when I was a kid. And I am always excited to get home because of the leche flan, which is one of my favorite desserts at that time. We we're just get home and those dish, drinks and dessert was already place on the table. We are still living in our old home from that time, and it is much bigger. There are people too who we celebrate Christmas with, like my nanny and the helper in Mom's bakery.

This has always been our Christmas, but yeah, things are really just meant to change. We lost our old house, Mommy F closed down the bakery after my father's passing, and now we are living in this new house of ours. A lot has really changed, including attending the night mass, we have failed this a lot of times already, same in going to church in the morning on Christmas day. Then, instead of putting the Christmas lights that we use to decorate in front of the store, we just stop putting some. Although it really looks good in the house, for practicality, we just stop doing that.

But no matter how simple everything has become now, I can say that we are still genuinely happy even with those changes. I mean, we just stopped doing some of what we used to do before, but we still celebrate Christmas. And I am happier too because I am still living with my oldies. Well, maybe it is also time to go out of my comfort zone and explore the world, but, really, I am still enjoying my life with them, so I'll set aside this plan for now.

And what makes me feel excited right now is the fact that I am also one of those who plan on what dish to make for Christmas, what dessert, or what other snacks to buy to make it more fun. And it's sad that it is just four who celebrate, but unlike before, we are more than ten people. Some people that work in Mom's bakery celebrate Christmas with us first before they go home. I mean, there's free food, you know. Who can say no to that? But now it is just us.

We are lucky if my brother, his kids, and his partner will visit us at home. Though it was for a short time, during that short time, me and my oldies were the happiest. They filled the emptiness in our hearts with their lovely smiles or laughter. And if before I was the one who would receive a Christmas gift, now I am the one who will do that with my niece. Although most of the time I gave cash, I'm sure that they are happier with money than anything else. At least with that, they can choose whatever they want to get.

We planned to celebrate Christmas the way we did before - simple but fun and with cake. Oh, another thing, Mom used to bake a cake for this kind of celebration - she even made some for me during my birthday celebration. Ahhh, those lovely memories are just so fun to remember.

And regarding the caroling keneme, I never really tried doing this because I was too shy to even do it. Ah, but I do sing in front of my mom so that I could get a Christmas gift, lol. But singing outside? Nahh, it looks really fun, but even as a kid, I am too shy for that.
