Remembering Funny Moments While Making a Savory Snack for the Family: A Basic Pancake - Just a Fluffy Pancake Without Any Twist
I just heard this story from Mama, it was about my late sister, Ate Riza (≧▽≦). It was one of the days when she took a vacation and visited us at home. I wasn't with them when it happened, but it was one funny experience that Mama still remembers whenever she sees a pancake mix. Forgive me, my pretty awesome sister, if I share this funny moment of yours(人 •͈ᴗ•͈). There was this one time when she brought a pancake mix because she was craving it, and well, she also wanted to eat it with us as a meryenda. There's an instruction on how to make that pancake, and it was actually easy to follow. Mother let my sister take care of it because she's sure that she can manage it.
But how wrong she was, because even with the instructions, my sister still failed to make that pancake, lol. When my mama saw how disastrous her cooking was, they all just laughed hard, and my mother had to do something with it for it not to go to waste. My sister put a lot of water in it, and the batter is too watery. Of course, that affected the texture of the pancake mix, and the taste was also affected because of that. But Mother was able to fix it in the end, lol. Maybe my sister just decided not to read the instructions because of the excitement. Ahh, remembering this story made me miss her more, Aigooo.
Anyway, I remember that story because Mama bought this ready-mix pancake and I volunteered to make it this time. I just want to see if I can make it successfully on the first try. Yep, I never tried cooking this one before. I mean, we don't really buy much of this because my oldies prefer to make something like this from scratch, unlike me and Mama, who don't want any long procedures just to eat something. We're both lazy, and that's why we are mother and daughter, lol.
It is a ready-mix pancake mix, but it still requires a piece of egg, We'll also need 240 240ml of water and 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and of course, the pancake mix. This is what's good about a ready-mix pancake, it is easy to prepare, and if ever you are in a hurry and you only have this in your pantry, it won't take much to prepare, and you can even eat it on your way, just be sure to put it on a paper plate of something.
So here's how I made this, I followed the instructions thoroughly, but apart from that, I also sought help from a professional - ehermmm, it my mama, lol. She knows how to make it, so of course, asking for a little help is not too bad, yeah? Well, yeah, I cheat a little (≧▽≦), Lol. So anyway, I beat the egg and prepared the oil, just two tablespoons, as stated in the instructions. But if it's possible to reduce it, I'll do it. I'll try it next time because I think it's still a lot. Would 1 tablespoon be enough? I'll try next time.
Now, after beating the egg and mixing it with the oil, I put the pancake mix in, followed by one cup of water. I don't have a measuring cup, so on the next cup of water, I just added some more gradually while also mixing it altogether. I don't have a whisk, so I just use a spoon to mix them. Just until all is dissolved and without any lumps.
Mix, mix, and mix until you get the consistency that you want. Sorry for the mess. Mommy F decided to help with mixing it, so I let her. But actually, she just taught me how to properly mix it, and that's how we got to that mess, lol - and she's a baker, so of course I should follow her (≧▽≦). And it's really effective, so I just did what she did. Whoa, it's like a family bonding too in prepping the batter. Although it is a simple pancake, but we had a lot of fun making it, so that's why even though there's nothing special on my pancake, but making it become more meaningful (≧▽≦).
Anyways, it's cooking time! Heat the pan, add a tablespoon of oil, and once ready, add a scoop of the pancake-mixed batter. Voila! And by the way, I just turn it to low heat, this will be cook really quick. Then cover it for 1 minute and wait.
Look at that, it is starting to bubble, indicating that it is ready. I just flip it, and tadaaaaan! Just look how beautiful it is. I think I did well in my first attempt, lol. Although I still got a little help from Mama and Mommy F (≧▽≦), still ╮(^▽^)╭. So we just have to cook each side for a minute, and that's it. It's done! Our not-so-hard-to-prepare hot pancakes are ready to be served!
Here's more photo. I took a lot because I want to remember how well I did on my first time. Although even a kid can make this, not all people are born to be a cook. And even with instruction, we can still make mistakes. I'm just happy that it turns out like this. I'll surely try another one of these soon. But I want to try something else, like maybe put a twist on it. Actually, that's my first plan, like I want to put chocolate chips on it, but we don't have that. So next time I try, I'll sure buy some chocolate chips along with the pancake mix. Now, bon appetit! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

I thought you were gonna put pomelo in the mix!! Hahaha. I love these ready mix pancakes especially those that don't require eggs lol. As a kid, when we make pancakes, we always have to measure the ingredients equally.. sometimes we miss one ingredient and run to the store just to make it which was sooo annoying. So having a ready mix is just so convenient. And oh I also don't measure water... I just use my intuition. Hahahah
Also how did you manage to cook that in a wok without it sticking to the pan???? That has always been my problem with literally any food cooked on that hahaha.
Hahahahaha, no way (≧▽≦).
Yep there is one pancake mix that doesn't require even an egg, but I haven't tried that yet. But how's the texture pala? And yep, it is really convenient, although masaya din gumawa frim scratch kaso ang hirap lalo baka magkamali, with the ready mix, easy nalang yarn, lol.
Oh I always make sure na mainit na yung pan bago ko lagyan ng oil. Then dapat mainit din yong oil, yong tipong naga usok usok na then pahinaan ng apoy, yong super low talaga. Then while you're at it, spread mo yong oil using the sandok, like padaanan mo ng sandok yong kawali, after that pwd mo na lagay. Gawain ko yan sa pag prito ng kahit ano, effective naman, walang dikit, walang sayang ╮(^▽^)╭
Never used a ready mix and always make from scratch. I have this habit of adding vanilla flavoring in my pancakes. Plus… I don’t use regular milk but coffee creamer 😂 pretty weird? I like it. It gives a different texture and taste. Although I have to be more cautious of the heat and cooking time.
Those look very delicious. And now I want pancakes. I should get that ready mix for days like this when I just want to eat and not make from scratch. lol
Oh, making it from scratch is even better coz you can make it however you want using the ingredients you want to. And you're already used to that process which I really envy coz I still asked help from my mom even if I'm already using a ready mix pancake, lol. I'm curious how it tastes with a creamer though, especially the texture and it's taste (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
Haha, you should try it too, let see if you'll like it too. We want to know your opinion about it, I'm not sure if you'll like it but it's really not that bad (≧▽≦)
I’ll try it. lol. I don’t think it’ll be that bad and if it is… I’ll just keep my trusty old way of making it… 😆😆
Ahaha, I'm sure you can make it taste even better (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)

I have tried cooking pancakes using the pancake-mix. My kids loved it too. But they prefer my own recipe in making pancakes. Well, your product looks palatable. It made me crave for some. 🫶
Hehe, they still prefer the homemade one you make coz it taste like home ╮(^▽^)╭
Thank you so much 🤩🤩
hmmm... makabili nga ng hotcake mix bukas. hahaha
Hehe, gogogooooo, i forgot to say why I love this brand pala - this one taste a little salty and sweet which we really like, even my oldies love it.
Wow, ready mix, this is super easy to make with, we always do it from scratch here. It turned out super nice and fluffy. Oh I love pancakes! 😀
The only problem on making it from scratch is the change that you may encounter a problem. But homemade pancake from scratch is the best coz you can make it taste even better.
Favorite ko ang pancake especially pag wala na maisip na almusal.
That story of yours resonate to mine back then when I do not know how to cook. Mga 10 years ago siguro, I even add itlog na pula to imitate the bibingka feels. It taste terrible btw.
Magandang kapalit kapag sawa na sa rice or pandesal no.
Hahaha, parang ang weird, iba pero bat sa bibingka naman it taste yummy. Dapat you try it woth bacon, or banana. I saw that sa box nitono, another version if you don't want it to be a plain pancake lang.
Sa true ang hirap kaya mag-isip ng ulam sa araw-araw hahahha
Ewan ko din nga maybe the way it was prepared siguro? Kasi diba either naka oven lang sya or talagang di lang ako marunong that time. HAHHA I might replicate it in the future to see.
Congrats! Pwede kana mag lako ate ropa! Lalagyan mo nalang butter tapos ididip mo nalang sa asukal 😁 Masarap na brand ng pancake yung Fluffy n' Tasty!
Same here! Makalat mag mix. Parang di ko na nilalagyan ng pagmamahal. Pangsama ng loob para sumakit tyan nila. Char 😂
Hahahaha sanaaaa, kaso not sure ah. Mainit mag lako, lol. Para mapamahal lagyan ng ibat ibang twist ano uwu
I remember something in this pancakes sis @ruffatotmeee. When I was kid mom & I bonding moment was to cook. But 1ne day I try making hot cake on my own. I put a lot of water on it. Grandma got mad because her kitchen was turned into a mess. She also didn't want to the mixture to be a waste so she repaired it & cooked it endlessly. As it we're about to sell. But eventually we gave them into our neighbors & told me to ask for help when I want some pancakes 🥞. It was really my favorite bread of all time
Hahaha just like what happened to my late sister. She out lots of water and it becomes watery haha. Good think our mom is always to the rescue haha
