Grocery Shopping With Mama and An Afternoon Walk: The Pineapple Seller on the Sidewalk, a Tall Tree Bearing a Weird-Looking Fruit, and My Favorite Candies during My Childhood

Doing grocery shopping is a headache now, especially if you have limited money and you found out that the detergent powder you often buy has increased its price. And because of that, you have no choice but to make some adjustments. Or worse, you will stop yourself from buying and just look for a shop that sells a cheaper product. There are actually some shops that don't raise their items immediately, but it's still hard to find them, and you have to roam around just so you can check every shop. Have you ever experienced that (≧▽≦).

Mama wants to stop by a grocery shop while we're going home from our short gala. She said she has to buy detergent powder, shampoo, and body soap. You know, those usual needs of a person. She only had 100 pesos at that time, or $1.70, in her pocket. After hearing her plan, I decided to also buy my own detergent powder as well as shampoo. I only have a few shampoos, and they won't last a week anymore.

We're already on our way here. Just a little bit of walking, and we'll finally reach the shop. And while walking, I noticed this van with a bunch of baby pineapples. When Mama saw it, she said, "Oh, that's why I can smell a pineapple." I can't relate because I didn't really smell it. Haha. I noticed the man here peeling a pineapple, and it looks sooooo good. My mouth watered after seeing it. It's been a long time since I last tasted a fresh pineapple like this one. Ó╭╮Ò

Not far from their location was this tree with a weird-looking fruit. I can see this tree in some places here in Bansud while growing up. According to Mama, it is called Bangkal Tree. And as for it's fruit, I look at it on Google and it says it is edible. But to be honest, we never see it as edible for humans. But I know some animals eat the fruit of this tree. After learning that it is actually edible, I am curious now if it tastes good even though it says here it is "bitter." Do you know what this is? Do you have this in your area?

So we're about to reach the shop we want to stop by. We can already see the sign of Palawan Pawnshop, and it is just in front of that - the grocery store. Just a few more steps. But I'm already running out of breath, lol. This is what I get for not exercising, Aigooo. Well, I'm really just afraid to exercise because I'm still traumatized by my nose bleeding before.

We're here, and our first stop is in the soap and detergent corner. Mama looks for what she needs while I also check if they have Surf Powder. It is available, but its price increased, and I want to buy half a dozen of it. After seeing the price, I decided to just check the other shop. I need it, but I still have time to check the other shop.

As for Mama, she needs body soap, but she only gets one. As for a detergent powder, she didn't get Wings powder because she noticed how spacious a pack of it was, meaning they reduced the content inside and it is really noticeable.

We checked more shelves, from canned goods to snacks, but we noticed the price increased on each item. It's sad though that the price increased but its content decreased. Even each pack is much smaller now compared to before. Aigoooo.

I walked into this part and saw some familiar candies, especially that one with a hole. It's a candy from my childhood. You familiar with it too? Another is those candy with fruit flavors. It's not my favorite, but Mommy D used to sell that in her shop before. And the kids really love it.

Here's more!! MikMik, HawHaw, and Monami, those are my favorites. I want the original flavors, though. Especially that MikMik, I have a lot of amazing memories with it, eating it with friends. Glad to see that they still exist now. I'm sure my fellow Filipinos here are familiar with those candies.

And let's not forget this chocolate wafer, stick-o. They were still piso dalawa before, but I'm not sure now. Maybe 2 pesos each? With one piso before you can already get two sticks. I really missed those times ( ꈍᴗꈍ). I remember, whenever I can save money, I'll ask my little brother to buy a jar of that, and we will eat it while hiding, lol. It's seriously one funny memory.

Its finally time to go home. Mama got the items she needed, so she went to the cashier to pay. As for me, I didn't get anything, even though there's a lot I want to buy. I really like myself for being a responsible spender, hahaha. Or more like kuripot. Lololol.

Oh, I love pineapples, generally sour food! I should buy a whole fruit now that I craved it, haha. Mikmik is so nostalgic, noh? I pretended to smoke when I was a kid using the Mikmik powder, haha.
