Bumping Into a Different Type of Calamansi for the First Time: Featuring It's Unique Pattern and Pretty Color of Green and Yellow
When I first saw this type of calamansi, I was mesmerized with its unique color and beautiful pattern. Mommy D too has the same impression. It happened when Mommy D visited her sister in Langgang and she saw that beautiful calamansi in their garden. It is so pretty that she can't help but pick some of it, and when she gets home, she presents the beautiful calamansi in front of us and uses it immediately as a dip sauce, mixing soy sauce and chili on it.
Here's the Calamansi that I know, the most used and the only Calamansi I know, the Philippine Lime or Philippine Lemon. Also known as calamondin. It is so green and will turn yellow when ripe. Ripe or not, it is still super sour (≧▽≦). We love to make this as a juice, called Calamansi Juice. Just add sugar, water and ice and you'll have your refreshing juice. Better than the one you buy in a pack in any convenience store. This one's real and super duper good. And just like Lime, Calamansi has health benefits too.
Anyways, aside from making it as a juice, as I've mentioned above, you can use this as a dip, just add soy sauce or chili, but that's just optional. But with that, it'll make the dish taste even better. Just like chicken inasal or any grilled fish or meat, calamansi with soy sauce is really the best with this. We used it too in marinating, aside from adding flavor to the dish, it can also tenderize the meat. That's according to Google, not really sure because I only use this in pork meat or milk fish when I want my meat to be more flavorful and sour, lol.
Anyhow, let me share now this new variety of Calamansi that I saw in Aunt Ella's garden when we visit in Langgang. It is really pretty, from its leaves to its fruits. The Calamansi I know has dark green leaves, it actually has a boring color but is still pretty either way. But it would be lovelier if it were like this one. Even the leaves can be like a good decoration to your home garden because of their bright color, a combination of green and yellow. Just like its fruits. So pretty.
And this is the flower, even more beautiful, so white, and so elegant. The flower of the calamansi I know is pretty much the same as this one. I can't remember much because it's been a long time since I last saw a calamansi flower. We don't have a tree of that. But Aunt Velyn has them in their garden so I already saw one ┏(^0^)┛.
And here are the fruits, so pretty. And because it has the same color as its leaves, at first glance you won't see anything in it aside from its flowers and leaves. But if you get closer to it and check, you'll see that there's actually something hiding on those leaves. And that's its fruit. Really amazing, no? Just look how different this calamansi is from the regular calamansi that I know. This one's like a rare version of it. So unique.
But actually, it is just the appearance that is different for them. Their taste is still the same, and they are both sour (≧▽≦). Still, if I'll have to choose between the two, I want the "rare" version in front of our house to show it to the world, while I'll put the regular one on the other side and let the people feast on both. Lol. Although I'm sure, there are already a lot of people who know this version of Calamansi ┏(^0^)┛. Ehe
