A Dreamer’s Take on Work and Wealth

For me a 9-5 work has always been and will always be stressful for me. But in order to be financially free, not everyone can avoid having a 9-5 job. Some people are fortunate enough to have or make money early enough to retire from this 9-5 stuff. Some people on the other hand do these 9-5s for a couple of years before they get fortunate for a coin or token to make them rich enough to retire.

As much as we condemn 9-5s cause we are in the crypto space, some people still enjoy 9-5s. For some people having a 9-5 keeps them sane and even though the pay might not be what they are after, they still like waking up and looking forward to going to a job where they can work.

Growing up, I’ve never ever envisioned myself to work in a corporate institution. Well, I say this cause I met crypto relatively early in my life and eve since then I’ve been looking for a coin to pump so I can forget looking for a job and working a 9-5. In the one year job experience that I have had, I have realised that it doesn’t matter how demanding or less demanding your work is, as long as you wake up and go for a job you’ll always be tired.

Whiles I was doing my national service we went to work 3 days and rested 3 days. For most people this wasn’t a big deal; Infact when I heard it the first time I said it wasn’t difficult at all but when you start you realise that you are doing same working hours as a 9-5 person or even in some cases more time.

We had to be at work by 6 and for a few random days we were fortunate enough to close by 6. On most days we went beyond 6 and by the time I got home it’ll be past 7:30. This was a fixed routine till your 3 days shift ended. What I realised about this was that even though I had my 3 days off, I ended using the first off days to sleep like mad. Being someone who didn’t like a lot of sleep during the day it disrupted my sleep schedule and boy I am still trying to figure it out.

Working at where I did my service was not flexible as you did the same thing day in day out. It was the same routine till you closed and well for most parts of it I liked it. Some parts like sitting in a clear office was one thing that I didn’t like about it.

Whiles I was in the university I did my attachment with an NGO and I seemed to like working there. We all know that when it comes to work ethics NGO’s are not that strict about a lot of things, all they care about is result and as long as you are result oriented then you’d enjoy being there. One thing that I’ve always like about most NGOs is that you seem young people in that sector a lot which makes it easier to work with them.

Working with that NGO meant not going to work very early in the morning. They had fun things to do during work hours and it wasn’t the same routine everyday.

So yh, I will definitely change things at where I did my service and if I had the choice I’d rather work in an NGO. What is your work like? Do you like working a 9-5 or you’d rather buy a shit coin to make you rich lol.
