Shades of Gray Ruleset and Amazing Battle | Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! Splinterlands

Hello everyone, I hope everything is going well in your life. Welcome to my Battle Mage Secrets post. In this post, I will talk about the Shades of Gray Ruleset.

Shades of Gray Ruleset

In battles with the Shades of Gray ruleset, only Neutral Units may be used. Meanwhile, Summoners are not affected by this ruleset. If your deck is rich in Neutral Units, you probably like this ruleset, and frankly, I love it. I love Neutral cards and I attach great importance to adding them to my deck and leveling up the ones I already have because I can include them in my strategy in all battles where there is no Taking Sides ruleset. So no matter which Summoner we choose, we can use them in battles, which can provide a huge advantage in battles. Similarly, in battles with the Shades of Gray ruleset, having more Neutral cards than our opponent will give us a great advantage.

But no matter what card we have, our strategy wins the battles, not the cards, so it is important to have a good strategy in battles. So no matter how powerful your opponent is, you can beat them with a good strategy. I will talk about such a battle below, I hope you enjoy it.

Battle Ruleset

  • Target Practice: All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability.
  • Shades of Gray: Only Neutral units may be used.

Snipe Ability : Targets the first enemy Unit with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that is not in the first position with Ranged or Magic attacks.

MY STRATEGY & LINE UP

According to the ruleset of the battle, all Monsters will have the Snipe Ability and only Neutral units may be used in this battle.

Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the opponent player's recent five battles, I saw that they had very powerful cards, and I knew that I would be fighting against a level 8 Summoner. The war would be tough for me, but I believed that with a good strategy I could win the battle.

First of all, I like to use Martyr Ability in battles with Target Practice ruleset and I will include it in my lineup in this battle as well, but I can guess that it will be in the opponent's lineup as well, so I will not target the Monster with Martyr Ability in the opposing team's backline. Therefore, in this battle, I will use Melee Attack Monsters and choose Tarsa as Summoner to give them +1 melee attack.

The continuation of the strategy and my lineup is as follows;

LINE UP

Summoner : Tarsa (Level 4)

Tarsa is a Fire Summoner who grants +1 Melee Attack to all friendly Melee Attack Monsters and +1 Health to all friendly monsters. I would like to point out that I prefer Tarsa as a Summoner so that I can give +1 health to all monsters and +1 melee attack to all melee attack monsters in my team.

Position 1 : Legionnaire Alvar (Level 2)

In the first position, I put Legionnaire Alvar with Void Armor Ability and Giant Killer Ability. The Void Armor Ability is effective against magic attack monsters, while the Giant Killer Ability does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana, these abilities can sometimes upset the opponents' strategy in battles, so I added Legionnaire Alvar to my team in this battle and put it in the first position.

  • Void Armor Ability : Magic attacks hit this Unit's armor before its Health.
  • Giant Killer Ability : Does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana.

Position 2 : Junker (Level 4)

In the second position, I put Junker with Reach Ability. Junker will be able to attack from the second position since it has the Reach Ability, and the main reason I added it to my team was because I wanted to destroy the enemy in the first position as early as possible.

  • Reach Ability : Melee attack Units with the Reach ability may attack from the second position on the team.

Position 3: Venari Marksrat (Level 4)

In the third position, I put Venari Marksrat with Martyr Ability. The most important reason I added Venari Marksrat to my team in this battle was because it has the Martyr Ability. I put it in the third position because all Monsters will have the Snipe Ability in this battle, because it will be the first target of enemy magic attack and ranged attack monsters. And after Venari Marksrat dies, the two Monsters adjacent to it will also get +1 to all their stats.

  • Martyr Ability : When this Unit dies, adjacent Units get +1 to all stats.

Position 4: Uraeus (Level 3)

In the fourth position, I put Uraeus with Sneak Ability. Sneak Ability targets the Monster in the last position on the opposing team and is an ability that can be effective enough to overturn the opponents' strategy in some battles, so I would like to state that I added Uraeus to my team.

  • Sneak Ability : Targets the last Unit on the enemy Team instead of the first Unit.

Position 5: Gem Meteor (Level 2)

In the last position, I put Gem Meteor with Scattershot Ability. Since Gem Meteor has the Scattershot Ability, the Snipe Ability will not affect it, so I added it to my team, especially because I did not want the Monster in the first position to become the target of enemy magic attack and ranged attack Monsters early in the battle, and after Venari Marksrat dies, they will target Gem Meteor.

  • Scattershot Ability : Ranged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target.

BATTLE COMMENTS

You can watch the entire battle from the video or from the Battle Link

To be honest, the opposing player's strategy was very good, and having a level 4 Drybone Raider in a battle like this is really a huge advantage. And if I had primarily targeted the Monsters in the second position on the opposing team, I would have never won this battle, which was exactly why I didn't target them.

Round 1

In the first round, although the attacks of the opposing team's monsters were more effective, most of them served my strategy. Especially their destruction of Venari Marksrat was great, and thus Junker and Uraeus got +1 to all their stats. And Uraeus also destroyed Spirit Hoarder.

Round 2

In the second round, Gem Meteor destroyed Gargoya Devil while Junker destroyed Venari Marksrat, but no monsters from my team were destroyed. And the opposing team only has 2 Monsters left, and it won't be difficult for my team to destroy them in the following rounds.

Round 3

Wow, in the third round, Drybone Raider and Venator Kinjo were also destroyed and my team won this tough battle. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be this easy.

The battle lasted only 3 rounds and at the end of the battle, while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, only Venari Marksrat was destroyed from my team, whose death was already part of my strategy. In this battle my strategy worked pretty well and my team won pretty easily against a pretty powerful team. I can say that especially including the Martyr Ability in my lineup and not falling into the opponent's trap allowed my team to win this battle easily.
