Making Music Can Improve Both Children's Pro-Social Behaviors and Problem-Solving Skills | Rising Star Giveaway - Reward 15000 Starbits (Ends 29 February UTC)
Researchers at the School of Psychology at the University of West London conducted a study to examine children's pro-social, collaborative and problem-solving abilities. 24 girls and 24 boys aged four years participated in the study, and the children were randomly assigned to either the 'Music' group or the 'No Music' group. While the children in the Music Group sang and played the percussion bullfrog, the children in the No-Music group listened to a story. Afterwards, the children played the Cooperation game and the Helping game, and the researchers observed the children's reactions during both games. The researchers' goal was to test their problem-solving abilities.
According to research, Music increases helpfulness in children. It also says that children in the Music group were over 30 times more likely to help than the No-Music group. It also found that making music also improved cooperation among all children in the Music Group, and these children were 6 times more likely to cooperate than children in the No Music Group. In short, research shows that making music can improve both children's pro-social behavior and problem-solving skills. If you want to read the full study, here is the research link. Also, another similar study.
I have no doubt that music improves both children's social behavior and problem-solving skills. I also think it has many benefits, from learning to socialization. Frankly, it surprised me that the rates in the above research were so high, because 30 times and 6 times are really big rates. But one way or another, I believe that music is very beneficial to children, so I fully support children's interest in music. My son started violin lessons last month. It will take some time for him to learn because he is young, but I like that he is interested in music.
Enjoy the music and stay with Love

Congratulations @henruc! Count me in for another round, please! Thank you so very much!
The research makes perfect sense to me. We are music and frequency-based creatures, so they are deeply ingrained into our biology and physiology, and as such they have profound effects on our development, especially as children. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

That is pretty nice research. I think music just makes people be a little more open or social so it could be quite helpful.
interesting research. Yes i do agree, music does help irrespective of age or gender.
I agree with the research. It's the reason why parents need to pay attention to the kind of music their kids listen to.
Yay! 🤗

I think this study is way too small to make a proper inference about the effects of music and on cooperation. The stimuli used in the control group might have been boring as well and affected kids behaviour. And to run a proper experiment the control group should have no stimuli. It's too simplistic which is often the problem with behaviour studies.
