BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge

RULESET: Counterspell

Description:

All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up. Magic units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks. The amplify ability increases damage. Click for More

In battles with the Counterspell Ruleset, all Monsters have the Magic Reflect Ability. When Monsters with the Magic Reflect Ability are hit with magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.

Additionally, the Amplify Ability increases Magic Reflect's damage to all enemy units by 1. I take great care in using Magic Reflect Ability and Amplify Ability together against Magic Attack Monsters, as it is a combination that is truly very effective against Magic Attack Monsters. However, in battles with the Counterspell Ruleset, most players do not use Magic Attack Monsters because it is not advantageous to use them in such battles. But I never hesitate to use Magic Attack Monsters if they help my strategy. In this article, I will talk about my most preferred strategy in battles where I think there will be no Magic Attack Monsters.

Battle Ruleset

  • Counterspell : All Monsters have the Magic Reflect ability.
  • Born Again : All Monsters have the Rebirth ability.

Magic Reflect Ability : When hit with Magic damage, does half the Magic damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.
Rebirth Ability : When this Unit dies it will self-resurrect with 1 Health once per battle.

MY STRATEGY

Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the last 5 battles of the opposing player, it was very difficult for me to predict the opponent's strategy in this battle, but I could predict that the opposing player would use Melee or Ranged Attack Monsters and I determined my strategy accordingly.

According to the ruleset of the battle, all monsters in this battle would have the Magic Reflect Ability and Rebirth Ability. I do not prefer scattered attacks in such battles, I generally prefer monsters targeting the same monster, and I will do the same in this battle.

First of all, I will choose Kelya Frendul as the Summoner because I think armor and speed will be important in this battle. And I will aim to destroy the monsters on the opposing team with monsters with Opportunity ability. Also, since I guessed that all the monsters on the opposing team would have armor, I would also use the Rust Ability, so it would be much easier to destroy the enemies.

Kulu Mastermind and Deeplurker have 4 Melee Attacks so I'll add them to my team. Additionally, Kulu Mastermind has the Weapons Training Ability, which meant I could gain attack power for Noa the Just, who has the Rust Ability. Noa the Just can defend very strongly against Melee and Ranged Attack Monsters, and he would also have melee attack power in this battle. Additionally, with the Martyr Ability, I will make Noa the Just more dangerous for the enemies. If this strategy works, Noa the Just will be able to attack the enemies mercilessly and it will be very difficult to hit him.

LINE UP

Summoner : KELYA FRENDUL

Kelya Frendul is a Water Summoner that gives +1 Armor and +1 Speed to all friendly monsters. I chose Kelya Frendul as the Summoner because I thought it would give my team an advantage if all the monsters in my team had extra +1 armor and +1 speed in this battle.

Position 1: VENARI MARKSRAT

Venari Marksrat is a Neutral Monster that can attack the target with a Ranged Attack and has Martyr Ability from level 1. The most important reason I added Venari Marksrat to my team in this battle was because it had the Martyr Ability. If my strategy works, my goal is for Noa the Just to get +1 to all his stats twice. And I put Venari Marksrat in first position.

  • Martyr Ability : When this Unit dies, adjacent Units get +1 to all stats.

Position 2: NOA THE JUST

Noa the Just is a Water Monster with no attack power but has Rust Ability and Dodge Ability at level 3. The most important reason why I added Noa the Just to my team was that it has Rust Ability and Dodge Ability. Additionally, if my strategy works the way I want, when it gets to the first positon it will be able to both attack its target ruthlessly and defend very strongly. I put Noa the Just in the second position and next to it I will put Kulu Mastermind.

  • Rust Ability : Reduces the Armor of all enemy Units by 2.
  • Dodge Ability : Has a 25% higher chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks.

Position 3: KULU MASTERMIND

Kulu Mastermind is a Water Monster that can attack the target with Melee Attacks and has Weapons Training Ability, Opportunity Ability and Shield Ability at level 2. I put Kulu Mastermind in the third position so Noa the Just would gain melee attack power.

  • Weapons Training Ability : Adjacent Units gain half this Unit's attack if they have no attack themselves.
  • Opportunity Ability : Units with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Unit with the lowest health.
  • Shield Ability : Reduces damage from Melee and Ranged attacks by 50%.

Position 4: DEEPLURKER

Deeplurker is a Water Monster that can attack the target with Melee Attacks and has Opportunity Ability. And I put Deeplurker in the fourth position.

My goal for this battle was to destroy the enemies with Monsters with Opportunity Ability, starting with the enemies with the least health.

  • Opportunity Ability : Units with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Unit with the lowest health.

Position 5: TORRENT FIEND

Torrent Fiend is a Water Monster that can attack the target with a Melee Attack. The main reason I added Torrent Fiend to my team was because it only has 0 mana, and I put it in the last position. The reason I put Torrent Fiend in the last position was to stall the enemy Sneak and Opportunity Monsters.

BATTLE COMMENTS

You can watch the entire battle from the video or from the Battle Link

Round 1

I'm not surprised that Noa the Just is on the opposing team, but I'm glad he doesn't have attack power. In the first round, both teams' attacks were very effective. The opposing team destroyed Venari Marksrat twice, while my team destroyed Uraeus twice. Frankly, my strategy worked exactly as I wanted in the first round.

Round 2

In the second round, Noa the Just had become much more dangerous to enemies, it was much harder to both hit him and block his brutal attacks. And in the second round, while one monster from my team was destroyed, no monster from the opposing team could be destroyed. Although I already knew that the two monsters on my team would be destroyed early.

Round 3

It became very difficult to damage Noa the Just, which disrupted the opposing player's plans. In the third round, while another monster from the opposing team was destroyed twice, no monster from my team could be destroyed.

Round 4

In the fourth round, my team managed to destroy Noa the Just but was brought back to life with 1 health. However, it was also the target of Opportunity Monsters, so it wouldn't take long for him to be destroyed a second time.

Round 5

In the fifth round, the enemy Noa the Just was destroyed for the second time, which meant that all the monsters on my team regained their armor. Now things have become even more difficult for the opposing team.

Round 6

In the sixth round, another monster from the opposing team was destroyed for the second time, and it was remarkable that 3 monsters on my team were still alive. And now the opposing team's chance of winning was destroyed.

Round 7

In the seventh round, Pelacur Bandit was also destroyed and only Sultry Barmaid was left on the opposing team, and it too cannot attack in first position.

Round 8

In the eighth round, my team destroyed Sultry Barmaid and they managed to win this tough battle.

Although the battle cost 27 mana, it lasted 8 rounds. I can say that the reason why the battle lasted so long was the Born Again ruleset. At the end of the battle, while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, 3 monsters on my team were still alive. Only 2 monsters from my team were destroyed, which was already part of my strategy. The opponent player's strategy was also pretty good, but my strategy worked much better and my team managed to win this very tough battle. In particular, I can say that using rust ability and monsters with opportunity ability was very useful in this battle. Frankly, I can say that in these types of battles, I attach great importance to armoring all the monsters in my team and removing the armor of all enemy monsters, and most of the time, this strategy works quite well, as in this battle. I recommend you to watch this great and challenging battle from the Battle Link. I hope you will like it.
