Hello everyone, Welcome to my Splinterlands Social Media Challenge post. In this post, I will talk about Up Close & Personal Ruleset and Protect Ability & Repair Ability, and I will also talk about an amazing battle. I hope it will be useful for you.

In Splinterlands, all abilities can be very effective in battles when used with a good strategy, and some abilities can be very effective, especially against certain attacks, and when combined with other different abilities, they can increase their effectiveness incredibly, and can also be very useful to the team.

Let's see how useful Protect Ability and Repair Ability are against Melee Attacks in a battle.

Ferocity Ruleset

• Ferocity: All Monsters have the Fury ability.

In battles with the Ferocity Ruleset, all Monsters gain the Fury Ability. And Monsters with the Fury Ability do double damage to targets with the Taunt ability. Therefore, in this ruleset, using Monsters with Taunt Ability is a disadvantage because they will take double damage from Monsters with Fury Ability.

Up Close & Personal Ruleset

• Up Close & Personal: Only Monsters with Melee attack may be used in battles.

In battles with the Up Close & Personal ruleset, only Monsters with Melee attack may be used. And Monsters with 2 types of attacks (including Melee) can be used.

MY STRATEGY & LINE UP

Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the last 5 battles of the opposing player, I saw that the opposing player had very powerful cards and I knew that I would fight against max level cards. This battle was not going to be easy for me and I needed much better strategy to win the battle. In addition to attacking the targets strongly, I also had to defend well, because surviving against powerful Monsters is not easy at all.

Since only Monsters with Melee attacks may be used in this battle, I had no doubt that the armor would be very useful for my team in this battle and I would include the Protect Ability and Repair Ability in my lineup to counter the brutal attacks of the enemies. I will even add 2 Monsters with the Repair Ability to my team in this battle, so I can protect the health of friendly Monsters more counter their brutal attacks.

Protect Ability

• Protect Ability : All friendly Units gain +2 Armor.

No matter how powerful Melee and Ranged Attack Monsters attack, they won't damage their target's health without destroying their armor, so Armor works very well against them. And you can protect friendly Monsters with armor against their brutal attacks. This is exactly why I'll be including the Protect Ability in my lineup and keeping my team armored up with Repair Ability.

By the way, Armor is useless against the Piercing Ability because if the attack damage of Melee or Ranged attack Monsters with the Piercing Ability exceeds the target's Armor, the remainder will damage the target's Health.

Repair Ability

• Repair Ability : Restores a maximum of 2 armor to the friendly Unit whose armor has taken the most damage.

Just as armor is useful against Melee or Ranged attacks, it is very useful to keep them armored up with the Repair Ability. The Repair Ability restores a maximum of 2 armor to the friendly Unit whose armor has taken the most damage. However, Armor cannot be repaired over the max armor stat, and a maximum of two armor is repairable by a single Unit per round. But multiple Units with the Repair Ability may repair the same Unit. That's exactly why I'm adding two Monsters with the Repair Ability to my team in this battle.

In this battle, I tried to give my team an advantage by giving extra +2 armor to the Monsters in my team and adding 2 Monsters with Repair ability to my team. Many players, including me, protect their team by using these abilities in such battles, and I will reduce the armor of all enemy monsters by 2 to give my team an extra advantage in this battle. And I choose Eternan Brune as the Summoner because I want to use a gladiator card in this battle and reduce the armor of all enemy Monsters by 2. Also, I will include the Demoralize Ability in my lineup to reduce the Melee attack of all enemy Units by 1.

In the first position, I put Grum Flameblade with Bloodlust Ability, Void Ability, and Void Armor Ability.
In the second position, I put Chimney Wallstop with Reach Ability, Bloodlust Ability, and Repair Ability.
In the third position, I put Ferox Defender with Protect Ability, and Repair Ability.
In the fourth position, I put Disintegrator with Demoralize Ability, and Trample Ability.
In the fifth position, I put Uraeus with Sneak Ability, and Poison Ability.
In the sixth and last position, I put Tenyii Striker with Sneak Ability.

BATTLE COMMENTS

The opposing team was very powerful as I expected, but the opposing player's strategy was much better than I expected. And I wasn't surprised that the opposing player had the Repair Ability in their lineup, but I was glad there was one because if there were two, my team's job would be much more difficult in the battle. And it was very smart of the opponent player to use the level 4 Forgotten One, this move made me give up hope on my Sneak Monsters at the very beginning of the battle.

The attacks of the opposing team's Monsters were truly brutal, and in the first round, Forgotten One retaliated and destroyed Tenyii Striker with just a single hit. And Uraeus was also destroyed in the third round. Frankly, after seeing the opposing team, I realized at the beginning of the battle that Sneak Monsters would not be very effective.

In the fourth round, Chimney Wallstop destroyed the opposing team's Grum Flameblade and got +1 to all its stats. Also, after the Grum Flameblade is destroyed, the opposing team can now attack a maximum of 2 Monsters in a round, which means I most likely won the battle. Because 2 Monsters with Repair Ability were still alive in my team, and it was not possible to destroy all the monsters in my team with the attacks of only 2 enemies. Now, there was only Forgotten One in the opposing team who was intimidating me, but it had no chance of winning this battle alone.

It was not easy to destroy the level 10 Arkemis the Bear, but she was also destroyed in the 13th round. And in the 14th round, Forgotten One took the first position and put up a great fight, but was destroyed in the 15th round by Chimney Wallstop's brutal attack.

And Venator Kinjo, the last remaining Monster on the opposing team, was destroyed by Chimney Wallstop in round 16, and my team managed to win the battle.

BATTLE RESULTS

The battle lasted 16 rounds and was a very competitive battle, , which clearly shows how good the opponent's strategy was. The opposing team was much stronger than my team, but the fact that I used the Protect Ability and Repair Ability in this battle helped my team win this battle, which is exactly why I attach great importance to adding these abilities to my lineup in such battles. The battle above was a good example of how useful Armor, Protect Ability and Repair Ability are, so I wanted to share it with you. I hope you liked it.
