A Study Reveals that the Ability to Recognize Altered Music Isn't Just a Human Trait | Rising Star Giveaway - Reward 15000 Starbits (Ends 20 February UTC)
Undoubtedly, music is an integral part of human life, wherever you go, music is of great importance in every country and culture. People recognize great music they've heard before, even if it's changed, meaning it's not the same as the original. So even if a song sounds higher or lower, faster or slower, or even the instruments are changed, we always recognize our favorite melodies. Nowadays, altering songs has become very popular on the internet, we recognize our favorite melodies no matter how much they are altered. Even very poor quality cover versions can never cover over a melody we know well.
According to a study published in Animal Cognition, Spanish scientists at Pompeu Fabra University found that the ability to recognize altered music is not just a human trait. Spanish scientists played the same melodies, varying in tempo, pitch and orchestration, to a group of rats. The research reveals that rats recognize the same melody even if the tempo and pitch are modified. The results of the study show that rats recognized the song even when there were changes in frequency and tempo, but they did not recognize the song when the timbre was changed. It's a really interesting research, and the results are also quite interesting. In fact, it is not surprising to hear that some musical listening abilities of animals are similar to humans. From now on, I will examine the reactions of animals while listening to music, and if I find anything interesting, I will share it with you. Music is truly universal.
Enjoy the music and stay with Love.
Question of the Day : What do you think about the rats' ability to recognize altered music? If you don't have an answer to this question, You can talk about your favorite song or anything related to music in your comment.

It does not surprise me that animals, in this case rats, are also able to recognize music with which they're already familiar, even if altered heavily. It is interesting that changing the timbre renders the music unrecognizable to them. Something about the different timbre interferes with their pattern-recognition ability. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

It's very interesting, although I don't understand why they used rats, I was expecting an animal that looked more like a human, but it was good reading.
@joseal2020
I don't find it surprising that rats can recognise a tune, or differentiate between the same tune played by different instruments. Most animals, including humans, use hearing as well as other senses to figure out their surroundings - where is danger, where is safety, where is something edible, where is my family/flock, where is something that might eat me?
