Lord Arianthus // Splinterlands Art Contest Week 187!
This time I'm going to share my new entry for the Splinterlands art contest.
Last week I was practicing a bit what the topology of a head is trying to recreate the actor Sylvester Stallone and although it didn't look much like it, I liked the result, you can see it here. Now I put into practice what I learned from that to make this new Splinterlands art 😁

En esta oportunidad les voy a compartir mi nueva entrada para el concurso de arte de Splinterlands.
La semana pasada estuve practicando un poco lo que es la topología de una cabeza intentando recrear al actor Sylvester Stallone y aunque el no me salió muy bien el parecido, me gusto el resultado, lo puedes ver aquí. Ahora puse en practica lo que aprendí de eso para hacer este nuevo arte de Splinterlands 😁
To start with the modeling, I started from a circle with 12 vertices to make the eyelids, although that was so simple it was a bit complicated for me because I had never modeled it with my eyes closed hahaha.
Para iniciar con el modelado, partí desde un circulo con 12 vértices para hacer la los parpados, aunque eso tan simple se me complico un poco porque nunca lo había modelado los ojos cerrados jajaja.
The next step was to model the mouth, in the same way starting from a circle, after having it complete I started to make part of the nose to be able to unite them and thus make a correct topology.
El siguiente paso fue modelar la boca, de igual forma partiendo de un círculo, luego de tenerla completa empecé hacer parte de la nariz para poder unirlas y así ir haciendo una topología correcta.
After completing the nose, I made the shape of the head from the lower part of the jaw to the end of the forehead and joined the parts.
Después de completar la nariz, hice la forma de la cabeza desde la parte baja de la quijada hasta el final de la frente y fui uniendo las partes.
What I did after assembling the whole face was to make the ears and the lower part of the neck to finish joining all the parts.
Lo que hice luego de armar todo el rostro, fue hacer las orejas y la parte baja del cuello para terminar de unir todas las partes.
The next thing was to use the particles to make the hair, which I made to be affected with a (force field - wind) that I then gave a variation of force to make the effect as if the hair is in water.
Lo siguiente fue utilizar las partículas para hacer el pelo, al cual hice que se vea afectado con un campo de fuerza de viento (force field - wind) que luego le di una variación de fuerza para hacer el efecto como si el pelo esta dentro del agua.
The next step was to make the texture, which is just as or almost as laborious as making the model, although the stencil tool is great for doing it.
El siguiente paso fue hacer la textura, que es igual o casi tan laborioso como hacer el modelo, aunque la herramienta de stencil es genial para hacerlo.
And finally I modeled the capsule, for its materials I used quite simple nodes. For the skulls above I used a model that I had already made before and changed the materials, and for the final touch I made the bubbles, which are simple spheres with material animated glass
Y por ultimo modele la capsula, para sus materiales usé nodos bastante simples. Para los cráneos de arriba use un modelo que ya había hecho con anterioridad y le cambie los materiales, y para el toque final hice las burbujas, que son simples esferas con material de vidrio animadas.

It was the focus this time, to do something new for me, I wanted to learn a little more about texture, although I can't do things well with UV, there is nothing wrong with smart projection.
Personally, I prefer procedural texturing over UV texturing. It's difficult to hide the seams. 😁
Btw, I might not be able to participate for the next few weeks for the arts contest. I need to re-evaluate what would I really want to focus here on Hive. lol.
The nodes are a very wide world too, it is a bit difficult for me, although sometimes interesting things are discovered playing with them haha.
Well, I hope you can find something you like to do to share it here.

It is very difficult to chose one. It's like 3D modeling, there are a lot of fields to specialize in. 😁

El 3D es como una adicción, una vez que empiezas un modelo no puedes parar jajaja. Cuando di mis primeros pasos en 3d ni dormía casi, era una locura de mi parte.

Nice work! I always used to start with a sphere and go straight to sculpting for faces... Your method is cleaner for texturing and even for animation I guess!

Just like I did, they do it on top of the sculpture to be able to animate, that's called retopology, but I did it directly like that, the good thing about doing the sculpture first is that there is more freedom in making details, but I think it worked out well for me thus.
