Food hunting @ MATHAF Lotus Ampang
Last weekend I and my family went to the MATHAF fair which is located in Lotus Ampang's car park area. This is the second time the MATHAF fair being held after the pandemic. Before the pandemic, MATHAF can be considered a quarterly event in Kuala Lumpur.
My sister told me that she saw a video in Tiktok about this MATHAF fair. Since it is near my mom's house, we decided to go there in the evening. It will be a 20-minute drive from my mom's house to Lotus Ampang.
Along the way, I can see that the weather was dark. It's just a matter of time before the rain comes down. I am hoping that we were able to reach the MATHAF fair before the rain started.
Thankfully the traffic was smooth, and we were able to reach Lotus Ampang after exactly 20 minutes of driving. Also just our luck, I got a parking spot upon entering Lotus Ampang, and the parking spot is just next to the MATHAF fair.
The entrance to the MATHAF fair was located next to Lotus Ampang. Upon entering the car parking, you for sure won't miss the entrance. The only challenge that I foresaw was finding a parking spot. There were a lot of visitors on the day that I went there.
It was packed inside the fair, but not as packed as the MATHAF fair before the pandemic. You can still walk at your own pace and enjoy your time. Also, the fair was not as big as in previous years. There were around 50++ vendors compared to 100++ vendors in previous years.
One thing for sure was, that the price hike for the all food that was sold here was exponential. For comparison, in the previous year, one cup of Thai Milk Tea was around 1 USD per cup. Now it was sold for 2 USD per cup. I easily spent around 30 USD at this fair.
This MATHAF fair ended on 19th June. The next location for the upcoming MATHAF fair will be Kelana Jaya.

Being kids, my daughters bought two cotton candy and two ice creams. One of the ice creams that they bought was made using liquid nitrogen. I am actually against this type of ice cream because the ice cream can be so cold, that it burns the tongue.
But since they have already bought the ice cream, I monitor them closely when they ate it. I ask them to constantly exhale the cold air that comes from the liquid nitrogen.
The cotton candy that my daughters bought was in the shape of a heart and hello kitty. But spending 7 USD on two cotton candies can be considered expensive.

As for myself, I bought a pack of fried baby crab, a set of shrimp spring rolls, and coconut ice cream. I loved the shrimp spring roll, but the dipping sauce for the spring roll was too spicy.
The coconut ice cream was also delicious. It was a homemade coconut ice cream, and taste creamy. Plus point for me, it was not that sweet. The fried baby crab taste so-so. It was sold in various flavors such as bbq, seaweed, and original.
