Summer Vacation: A Memorable trip to Pokhara with Family

There are many lovely and wonderful holiday occasions in my life and all of them are worth sharing. It is very difficult to pick one of them. Holidays and vacations are always full of fun and enjoyment. In fact, I do remember that in school days, when there were holidays and vacations to come, we start planning for them in advance and how we are going to spend our time, playing games, visiting different places as I am very fond of travelling since childhood.

We were in Nepal for four years from 1996-2000 and in holidays/vacations, we usually visit Pakistan, sometimes me and my Mother and sometimes, my brothers. We do enjoy couple of days visiting nearby places because it was very difficult for my Father to get rid of his worklife and accompany us for more than a day trip. My eldest bro was also busy in his studies in Pakistan. In 1999, my Eldest bro was in Nepal to spend his holidays and luckily my Father too get a week off from work so we all decided to have a trip to Pokhara, a beautiful city with stunning views of mountains and lakes.

I was just 11 years of age and I do remember most of the things we did in Pokhara. The main and most important thing of this trip was it was a long week trip plus our whole family was together. My Parents along with my three elder bros, we went there by bus. The views were amazing, the mountains and the greenery, amazing nature. My Eldest bro, who spent not much time in Nepal, still have many friends and links. His friend was the owner of Hotel Majesty and we stayed there on this trip. Hotel was located at an ideal location. I really loved that place.

One of the best holidays I ever had. We went to so many places in Pokhara. Some of them I remember and most of them I forgot lol I do remember that we went on fishing as my Eldest bro is very fond of fishing. There was a lake, a famous one, in which we hired a boat and spent a good time in fishing. I don’t remember that we caught fishes or not. I am sure my brothers know and remember most of it.

We went on the top of some hill, to witness sunrise. On our way to the hill, I remember that our car had some issues and stopped climbing, instead it rolled back and I got scared as it was too dangerous and we were in the middle of climbing the hill. Luckily, the driver was smart enough to get the car working again and we were safe. These types of incidents were common in those places. We reached top of the hill safe and sound. We enjoyed sunrise and the atmosphere on the top. Then, we went to Devi’s fall, I do remember this name. it was a nice touristic place to visit. There was a temple beneath or near that waterfall, me and my Eldest bro went there. there was a path behind that temple which leads to the middle of the lake or that waterfall. It was risky so we didn’t go further.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and love the food too. It’s a different story as we met one of our friend there who was the chef of the hotel. It was a coincidence, he was the same person we met when we came to Kathmandu in 1996 and stayed at Khum Jhum Hotel, he was the Chef there and we loved the food he used to make, and still he had the same taste. He was very happy to see all of us once again and treated us wonderfully well. We enjoyed the rain while having tea. Everything was perfect about this trip.

These memories of Pokhara are unforgettable and it cannot happen again. The best holidays I enjoyed with my family, there are lots and lots of holidays but these were special. I only visited Pokhara once and this was the time and luckily, we all family members were together which made it so special. I hope someday, we have the same type of trip again with all family member i.e. my parents and all family members of my brothers so can enjoy and experience the same fun we had in our childhood.
