My Birthday Story of 2024: A Rainy Adventure

My birthday on August 5th turned out to be quite an adventurous one this year. Since August 5th was a Monday, I went to drop off my wife and kids at my in-laws' place on Sunday morning, planning to pick them up later that night. The weather seemed clear during the day, with no sign of rain. Little did I know that the evening would bring a completely different scenario.

Karachi is a huge city, and my in-laws' place is about 18 km away from my home, which is quite a distance. In Karachi, it rarely rains heavily across the entire city at the same time; usually, some areas get more rain than others, which often creates a chaotic situation.

After dropping off my wife and kids, I returned home and made plans to go out for dinner on Sunday night to celebrate my birthday. The plan was to pick up my wife and kids from my in-laws' place and head straight to Broadway Pizza, while the rest of my family would go there directly from home. However, as usual, things didn't go as planned.

It started raining at 7 PM, making it difficult for me to leave the house. Two online bike ride requests were accepted and then canceled due to the rain. After searching for two hours, a bike rider finally agreed to pick me up. Halfway through the journey, it started raining heavily, and traffic was severely affected. Despite this, the bike rider didn't give up and managed to get me to my destination. When I arrived at my in-laws' place, I was completely drenched, and my mother-in-law was shocked to see me in such a state.

Next, my mission was to get a car to go to the restaurant, but it became a nightmare. The heavy rain continued non-stop, causing water to accumulate on the roads, and no online car requests were being accepted. From 9 PM to 11 PM, I struggled, and finally, a car accepted the request. We started heading towards Broadway Pizza.

I was in contact with my father during the journey, and it was also raining heavily near our home, making it difficult for my family to get a car. Halfway through the journey, we decided that it was already 12 AM, so I should just pick up the food and we would eat at home since it was too risky to travel with kids in such weather.

Using my brain, I placed an online pickup order at Broadway Pizza on the way to save time. The rain didn't stop, and there was a lot of water on the roads. Fortunately, the driver was skilled and drove carefully, dropping us off at Broadway Pizza.

Broadway Pizza in Bahadurabad is in a food street, and it was jam-packed due to the rain. The entire roundabout was clogged with cars. I was worried about how I would get a ride from there. Just then, a rickshaw passed by, and I called out to him. Luckily, he agreed to take us. Grateful, I picked up the pizza and headed home, where everyone was waiting.

Despite being drenched, I started the party without changing clothes. The pizza was amazing—very tasty and cheesy. It was already 12 AM, and my birthday party started right on time.

After enjoying the pizza, it was time for gifts. I was amazed by the wonderful presents I received. The most important gift was a brand-new, zero-meter mobile phone, which I had ordered myself. The mobile was gift-wrapped, and when I unwrapped it, I was thrilled. This was all part of my family's plan, especially my mother's, who was extremely happy to see me so delighted. Other gifts included a perfume and specially tailored pants and a shirt made to my measurements. These surprises were all planned by my family for my birthday, and I was incredibly happy.

No matter how old I get, I'll always be the youngest in my family, and they treat me accordingly. Although I always get gifts on my birthday, this time it was different, and my family succeeded in making me very happy.

The next day, my elder brother came with his family and brought a cake and more gifts, including a shirt, jeans, body spray, and perfume. It was fantastic to receive so many gifts. My family takes great care of me, and I consider myself very lucky to be a part of this family. We had a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoyed my birthday.
