Eating out with Boss @ Raees Biryani House
Today, I’m sharing one of my lunches with my boss, which is not a common occurrence. Obviously, you don’t get the chance to have lunch with your boss every day; it all depends on his mood and the situation. One such situation arose in August when the boss was in the mood to eat out, and during this discussion, he called me into his room. Two colleagues were already there, and the conversation was about where to go for lunch.
I suggested having burgers, something fast food, and that’s when a discussion about fast food started. The boss mentioned that in his opinion, the best burgers in Karachi are at "No Lies Fries." But when we searched for it, we saw that it was way out of our price range. I said that this is the kind of burger only the boss could treat us to; otherwise, I’d never go there to eat such an expensive burger. The boss replied, "Alright, let’s go there today." Then we talked more about food, and the time for Friday prayers came. We told him we’d pray first, then go for lunch.
After prayers, we waited for the boss in the parking lot, but as soon as he arrived, the plan changed instantly. The boss said, "Today, I feel like eating pulao or biryani, not burgers," which meant "No Lies Fries" was canceled. Now, I don’t care where we eat pulao or biryani because I’m not a big fan of rice. One of the colleagues suggested Raees, and the boss said, "Sure, I’ve ordered Raees many times but never dined in, so let’s go there today." While I was searching on Google Maps, I came across Abba Biryani and suggested we try something new. The place to sit wasn’t that fancy, but the biryani might be good. Everyone agreed.
When we arrived at Abba Biryani, the seating really didn’t look suitable for everyone, especially for the boss, although he was ready to sit. But we all insisted against it, so we headed to Raees instead.
I thought Raees would be a small, ordinary restaurant, but it was actually quite good. And when I saw their menu, it was huge, like never-ending. The boss was very happy because of the pulao, but since I was in the mood for a burger, I ordered one. Unfortunately, I was told that fast food only opens in the evening, which ruined all my excitement. With limited options left, I ended up ordering qorma, while everyone else ordered pulao and biryani.
Honestly, I’ve never ordered qorma at a restaurant before because I always think of it as something you eat at weddings, or sometimes at home if it’s made. So this was the first time I ordered qorma at a restaurant. I’d heard great things about Raees’ qorma, so I thought I’d try it since fast food wasn’t available.
The pulao and biryani looked really good, and the qorma was absolutely delicious. Eating it with sheermal made it even better. Everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly.
So, that’s how we had lunch with the boss. But "No Lies Fries" didn’t happen, though the boss promised to take us there another day, and that would be his treat. Hearing that felt great, and now I’m waiting for that day to experience the best burger in Karachi. Let’s see when that happens!
