A rare gift

I am not the lucky type when it comes to receiving gifts nor do I have any special gifts, I am just a natural human being doing my best to survive in life.

I work in a cornflakes factory and I was always busy with my life until I got admission into the university, so I had to work and school at the same time. I had two friends Debby and Tessy and we got admitted into the university together and that makes our friendship stronger. I also have a boyfriend, I met him at my former workplace but I didn't stay long at the work before I joined my friends in the cornflakes factory.

"Rose I wanted to ask you something what is it with you and that new boyfriend of yours?" Tessy said to me on our way from school.

"You mean AY?" I replied to her.

"How many boyfriends did you have if I may ask?" Debby asked.
"I laughed and replied to the two of them, "What is it about AY that you two want to know?".

"The fact that you love this guy too much bothers us," Debby replied.

"Yes especially me because how can you show too much love to a guy you just met," Tessy said as we got down from the tricycle that carried us.

"Well, if you two must know, AY happens to be a blessing to me because he has been so good to me unlike my ex who wouldn't care about what is happening in my life and that is why I loved him so much," I replied to the two of them as we entered into the factory to start night shift.

The night work went smoothly as always, in the morning we were supposed to go home together but because I wanted to see the love of my life I told them to go home without me.

"Let me guess, you want to go and see that guy again," Tessy said as we were almost at the factory gate.

"Just leave her by the time he breaks her heart she will come back to her senses," Debby replied to Tessy while I acted as if they were not talking to me and we went our separate ways.

At AY's house,

"Hey babe, how was your night?" I greeted AY as I got into his room and a parlor apartment.

"Hey honey how was your night at work?" AY replied as he stood to hug me.

"I am so tired," I replied to him.

"Come here let me give you a very touching massage," Ay said as he dragged me closer to the couch in the sitting room, he did really know how to massage for real because after pressing every part of my body we kissed and had fun before I slept off on his soft couch for some hours without having breakfast.

"Babe! Babe!! It's past four wake up," AY said as he taped my back.

"Past four? OMG, I need to go home so that I can prepare for tonight's work," I said as I rushed to the bathroom with his blanket wrapped around my body.

"Go home to do what now babe, I have some clothes that you can wear to work so don't bother yourself and I have also prepared food for you," AY said while obstructing my way to the toilet.

"Awww, that's why I love you but I need to shower and brush my teeth before eating," I replied to him then walked into the bathroom.

"Of course," he replied as he stepped aside for me to pass.

I got to work and immediately my friends saw me in that dress they knew I never go home and the two of them wouldn't let me rest.

"Rose I hope you haven't slept with this guy?" Tessy asked as we walked down to the factory from the entrance.

"She's not a child, but Rose you really need to slow things down with this strange guy of yours," Debby replied.

"Ok babes, I know you two are trying to look out for me but the thing is that I love this guy and there is nothing anyone can do about it," I said to them as we entered the factory.

Two months later,

"Rose are you ok," Tessy asked in the changing room while I sat looking so sick.

"Yeah, I am it's just a slight malaria and I have taken drugs," I replied to her then managed to drag myself out of the changing room.

Some hours later after work.

"Arrrh, Arrrh," I was vomiting beside the road on our way home.
"I hope it's not what I am thinking," Debby said.

"I am sure it's not what you are thinking Debby because I also vomit whenever I am sick," Tessy replied and the two of them started arguing while I almost vomited my intestines.

"Are you guys done arguing? Can anyone get me water to rinse my mouth," I said to the two of them.

Debby gave me the water she had in her bag, they took me home and since that day I couldn't go out because a lot of things were wrong with me and I didn't have the strength to move around.

My Mom took me to the hospital since all the self-medication she had been doing for me wasn't working and some hours later at the hospital.

"Madam, your daughter is 10 weeks pregnant," the doctor said to my Mom in his office right in front of me. My mom turned to me then said, "The last time I checked you were not married, so where did this come from?".

I didn't know how to lie meanwhile I wouldn't want my Mom to slap me in front of the doctor so I quickly told the truth.

"It's my boyfriend AY," I said sharply before my mom did what was in her.

"Then we should be heading to his house right now," my mom replied and I quickly stood up to take her to AY's house. We got there and he didn't deny me which made my mom happy a little bit but she was sad because I didn't wait to finish my university before letting such a thing happen, so I had to pause my education to have the baby.

Two weeks later, we started the wedding because my mom said she couldn't let me be in her house with another man's child meanwhile AY too wanted me to move into his apartment as well so everything worked as planned we did the wedding in a very little way.

Some months later,

"Arrrh, hmmm, awww, the baby is coming," I was crying and shouting on the bed and AY didn't know what to do than to rush out to get help, luckily one of our neighbors who had a car took us to the hospital.

The labor went on for some minutes before I could bring the baby to life and immediately I heard the cry of my child I felt so happy and then I said, "This is the best gift I have ever had,".

"Yeah you just gave me the best gift of my life as well," AY replied as he sat beside my bed holding my hand so close to him.

Ever since then my friends stopped disturbing me about AY because he has proved them wrong to be the good guy that I wanted.
