Pork Sinigang;A filipino Comfort Food
Hello everyone! Hi to all hiver's, family and friend’s here. Good day to all of you specially to food lover’s who love to cook like me and to all who love to eat. Today is the first day that we have good weather. The past few days it has been raining and it is so difficult to go out and go to the market for marketing. Even though it is raining sometimes I don't have a choice but to go out to the market. Thankfully today we have a good weather and when I drive to send my daughter to school I remember both of my daughters asked me last night about one of their Favorite dish which is Pork Sinigang. I remember we don't have pork in our refrigerator anymore so I decided to proceed to the market after I would send my eldest daughter to her school then buy the ingredients.
SINIGANG:
Sinigang is a beloved Sour Soup, originated in the Philippines and is staple in Filipino cuisine, with its roots dating back to pre-colonial times. It is a versatile soup that can be made with various meats(pork, beef, chicken), seafood(fish, shrimp),and vegetables. Sinigang is also a comfort food for many filipinos. Tamarind(Sampaloc, guavas, unripe mangoes, kamias or lemon can be used to sour the soup. For me it is more convenient to use the ready to mix sinigang mix in the market. My Sinigang today is pork Sinigang because this is my teenager’s request.
PORK SINIGANG
Ingredients:
1/2 kilo of pork lean meat cut into cubes.
1/8 kilo cabbage.
2pcs of long chili.
2 cloves of garlic.
One onion medium size.

5pcs of Baguio beans.
One medium size of white yum.

*Add enough water to cover the meat.
*Bring to a boil and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
*Remove the pot from fire and set aside.
*When it is cool remove the water from the pot and make sure no more water left in the meat.
*Throw away the first broth because it is our final wash of the meat, it has the impurities.
*Remove the skin of the garlic and onion.
*Wash it well.
*Slice into desired cut.
*Wash the tomato and slice it.
*Remove the skin of the white yum ,wash it well and cut into cubes

*add the tomatoes. Then wait until it is tender.
*add the pork meat.
*Mix it well and cover it.
- After 10 minutes add the ground pepper
*Add salt to taste and let the ground pepper and salt combine to the meat by mixing it.
*Add the white yum.
- Add 4 cups of water and bring it to boil.
*Let it simmer for one hour or until the meat and the white yum are tender . - When the white yum is tender,Mashed it well inside the pot by using a spoon or a Ladle then mix it back to the meat.
*Take 1/4 cup of the broth into a soup bowl, add the knorr Sinigang mix and stir it well until it is well combined
- Add the Chayote, long chili and the Baguio beans. Mix it well.Simmer until it is tender
*Lastly add the cabbage and mix. - Off the fire and our Pork Sinigang is ready to serve.
Pork sinigang is best eaten with Rice or corn grits.
My daughters are happy that I cook Pork Sinigang for lunch. It has been a while since I cooked this dish and it is so heartwarming seeing them enjoy eating the food. As a mom, I would always love to cook for my daughters, especially foods that they like to eat. For me my responsibility as a mom includes my ability to cook food for my daughters. There is that feeling of joy from within when I see them eat well the food I cooked for them. One of the many ways to show them my unconditional love is by cooking.

Love pork sinigang and bangus sinigang, too. This is especially good on rainy days. Yes, we can use the traditional way of making the soup sour, but now using the ready-mix powder is commonly used. This soup enhances my appetite, and I am sure it's everyone's favorite. Bburp! 😀
