MY NEW MAIN GAME? | OFF THE GRID
HELLO, HI, HOWDY, GOOD PEOPLE OF HIVE! 🤠
We are finally back with another upload. However, I believe this time the wait will be very much worth it; especially for those who are WEB3 veterans.
Because the most anticipated WEB3 game has just been released, and I'm having fun testing it out and playing. Not only is this one of the best WEB3 games, but it has the potential to be number one; while also being the bridge that onboards more people from the WEB2 space to WEB3. Also, it can be one of the best WEB2 FPS games as well, if, some proper changes are implemented quickly.
So, let's get started.
I've known about Off The Grid for about 10 months now, and what I've learned within these months, makes me bullish for this game and what it has to offer. And that's not only as a gamer but as a newb crypto enthusiast as well. When I say this thing has potential, I truly mean it. But, the team behind it will have to play their cards right from here on.
All in all, this is something new we have here. And people love new and shiny stuff!
I expected a lot of things from this game, but in terms of the people who are playing and promoting this game, I didn't expect names like Ninja, Shroud, and many more. Dr. Disrespect too, but he has been helping the team for a while now. Sure, these people are either paid to stream or play, but they won't risk their following for a shitty game. There are other top-tier content creators and players who weren't paid a penny but loved and promoted the game just as much. So, that's surely a positive sign. Because the WEB2 folk despise such Crypto-related games because they think it's all still a scam.
We WEB3 folk see things differently, and I believe the matter of true ownership is inevitable. Whether the big WEB2 corps decide to go full blockchain or not, the matter of true ownership and the players having even a partial bit of control over the game and its assets will soon become a thing.
Other than the future potential and hype, the current state of the game isn't too good, nor is it too bad. However, it was expected. Because even the games and companies that have 10 times more money invested can't get a lot of things right, especially optimization. So, it's no surprise.
However, they will need to address these issues and come up with a fix ASAP. Not everyone has the setup or patience to play a game at 40-50 fps. Even with my fairly well-equipped PC, I struggle to get a stable 60 FPS, and for such competitive games, FPS matters the most. There are workarounds to tweak the game and make it somewhat playable, but as mentioned above, not everyone is interested in the technical and DIY options.
But if I'm being completely honest, the team is implementing changes quite quickly. We've received two patches in the past week, mostly to balance the weapons. So, that at least shows effort, and it is commendable.
The weaponry has character too. Especially the limb system, it's quite a unique take, as the implementation of losing your limbs when messing up. There is some innovative stuff here, that not even some of us gaming veterans could think of. So, they're going to stand out from the crowd for sure.
The Extraction mode is what's available for the moment. BR will soon be introduced, and even though I'm a "BR guy", I'm actually for the first time having fun playing an Extraction mode. That's something I imagined was impossible, but Off The Grid has completely changed that.
All in all, expect to see way more OTG gameplay from my end. Because crypto or not, WEB3 or not, this thing is going to get some proper attention from me, and hopefully the whole of the gaming community in the future.
