#STB Coffee Prompt Week 55 | The Joke

The sun's rays pass through my window, it's a beautiful morning and I slowly return from my narcotic pleasant sleep. The cozy stillness of my bed invites me to continue between the white sheets, but the morning responsibilities invite me to get up to continue with the daily routine.

Between my morning calm and the slow return to my reality, a shadow appears cutting through the light and the quick brush of my hands over my eyes shows the recognizable figure of my love. The first thing I look at is her beautiful face, adorned with a pair of light brown eyes that I fell in love with in that coffee shop, and her provocative full lips tasting a delicious coffee.

Now my beautiful lover arrives with a cup in hand of my most delicious coffee, a beautiful smile shows on his mouth, as he extends my favorite cup towards me, I receive it with much affection without taking my eyes off him and a smile in response to his is reflected on my face. A few words break the contemplative silence.

"Love, I brought you your coffee so you can start your day with lots of energy."

"Thank you, my life. You are so kind, I love you." The words of love fly in the air as I bring my coffee cup to my mouth.

The dark liquid touches my tongue and my taste buds go into action, suddenly something starts to go wrong. My sense of taste sends information to my brain that analyzes the data and in microseconds, the reaction occurs, the reflex makes me spit out the horrible coffee, its flavor contains a hint of hot dogs.

My face produces funny grimaces and gestures to which my partner bursts out laughing. I angrily ask, "What's funny?"

"Love, don't be mad, it's April Fool's Day and I wanted to play a joke on you, happy April Fool's Day...," he repeats between loud guffaws.

I get out of bed with a strong desire to kill him, I go into the bathroom to try to lower my exalted spirits. Behind the door my partner apologizes for what he did with my beloved coffee.

Without saying a word, I leave the bathroom and get ready to leave for work. My partner is stunned by my reaction, as I close the door I leave without saying a word. After calming down and returning home, I think that my love's innocent joke was no reason to fight.

So I arrive and after entering the apartment I look at my partner sitting on the couch very sad, when he looks at me he says, "Sorry, love, I thought it would be funny, I never meant it in a bad way". His eyes on the verge of tears move me.

"Don't worry, love. I was a fool, I should have taken it gracefully in the spirit of this day, there is nothing to forgive." I hug and kiss him with much love.

After everything was cleared up and we were back to normal we celebrated with some delicious cups of coffee, but wait I must have my revenge....

"My love, this coffee has salt in it, horribleee!"

"Happy April Fool's Day, sweetheart, haha..."
