Do You Find Any Relationship Between Spending Money and Happiness?
You wish you would have a lot of money! Then you could buy a lot of things. When you buy something, you feel good. Literarily, we need to spend money to live. You need clothes, food, shelter, medication, and other things. You have to earn money first and you can afford to buy what you like.
You see there is a relationship between spending money and happiness. Let's divide our whole life into three parts. The first part of your life you spend getting an education. When you finish your academic studies, you are around 24 or 25 years old.
Now you spend your time making money and building your career. You have the energy and strength to work hard. You can earn money and spend everything. Next month, you will get a salary and again you afford to buy stuff.
If you spend too much money now, maybe you feel good, but you are hurting the third part of your life. Yes, I am talking about retirement. If you are in the third part of your life, you know better how you feel and what comes to your mind at that time. I have not got there yet, hope I'll get there in the future.
Unfortunately, some people regret it when they reach the third part of their life. They wish they would spend more time doing something else instead of chasing money in order to afford more stuff to buy.
When you spend more money, you have to earn more time. You may not save money and think about what can happen in the future. Your spending habits can change drastically when you think about the future. You want to live happily without going through any stress that comes from financial difficulty.
The moment you save and invest your money, that gives you the power to do something else in the future. You spend less and focus on buying stuff that you need. Most of the time, we are influenced by others and decide to buy different things. But when you think about the third part of your life, you make your retirement plan.
The way you spend your money has a huge influence on your life. You can spend money to buy what you like, at the same time, save and invest to grow your wealth, and have retirement funds to take care of everything when you retire. That leads to happiness and financial freedom.
So what do you think? Please feel free to leave your comments. Thank you for reading this post. That's it for now. I'll be back with another post.

Spending money created a very brief moment of rush, followed by a much longer duration of regret. I have long hit the threshold where I don’t really need any physical things.
The reality nowadays is I rather have more me-time. Spending money unnecessarily means less savings and having to work longer before able to retire. Which translates to less time “living a life” to the fullest.
Completely agree with you. You have to decide what you want in your life. Thank you for your comment!

To an extent it does. However, one thing that I don't regret spending money on is a game that I can play. Maybe that is why I prefer RPGs since they got a long story and I can get my money's worth.

I think having a balance is the key when you spend your money. When you have the balance, you can spend, save and invest at the same time.

You have a good point here, but you have to consider other factors. Like what type of environment did one grow up in is a major factor in the equation. I am nearing retirement age & don't have a retirement fund. I have always lived paycheck to paycheck with nothing left for savings after paying for the necessities of life. I just recently in the last 5 years was even in a situation to obtain life insurance. I have always had bank accounts but the money went out just as quick as it came in.
I was a single mother & did all I could to try to save for a rainy day but even then I seemed to always have a rainy day once the savings grew to any amount. There was always something I needed to provide for survival.
Now I am married and out of a 9 to 5 & have been since 2014 & totally rely on my husband income for survival. He does have a retirement account and we do have a small amount of savings but even now things arise that makes us dip into that savings.
It is not as simple as you make it sound for everyone. My building on Hive is sort of my retirement fund. I invest now hoping that in the next 5 to 10 years, something jumps and makes a nice nest egg for me.

It seems you are in a circle when you live paycheck to paycheck. It's hard to break that. Whatever you save money for something else, something comes up suddenly and you have to spend your savings. You cannot do what you want to do with savings.
Yes, it is hard. But there is a way. Like what you are doing on Hive can be a part of your retirement fund. Thank you @successchar for sharing your experience. I appreciate that!

You're right, paycheck to paycheck, I don't get upset about it though. Retirement is part of the reason I'm on hive. Although I it seems I can barley save for big ticket items I still usually get what I want, sometimes I have to use my husbands credit card and help pay the bill. So I guess you can say, I spend my savings before I even save it.
