Weekly ish Running Update - back to the track and a beach!
So I got back to my three standard runs last week, after 6 whole days off....
Bit jiggle about compared to usual, but that's OK!
The runs themselves were pretty average, actually a little on the lazy side, but that was my mood this early July 2024, but I did also manage a couple of circuits sessions and kept up 10K steps a day minimum... I'm kind of wanting to maintain my streak and beat my previous monthly step record in July!
Sunday's Run - not so fast 5K and some extra intervals!
I was a bit disappointed to come in over 23.30, I now aim for at least low 23s....
So I added on a couple of lazy 200M sprints after...
Tuesday's Run - Back to the track for intervals
Delighted to say that Hereford running track has been resurfaced and it's still free for anyone to use, it's a real asset....
I've never used a properly surfaced running track before, only old ones. This one is actually spongey now, you get a little bounce with every stride, it's FANTASTIC!
I'm gonna make the most of it.
Ironically I wasn't in the mood for doing really fast intervals so I just did 3 400s and then a couple of 200s.
The run there and part-way back is about 3Ks so it's still a fair amount of running!
Thursday's Run - Early morning 9K
Weather was a bit damp, but in July it's still warm enough... FRESH let's call it. I was a bit time constrained so just opted for a short route.
This was the run where I got a little chase from a yappy dog, so small it wasn't a threat, but then I saw some fresh dog shit 100M down the road, clearly the dog's owner is selfish and couldn't even be bothered to kick it into a hedge. It's not the dog that's the problem, clearly!
It's annoying that it's impossible to catch the owner in the act, you can't predict where the dog is going to shit. I'd like to report her but there's no point!
The runs was pleasant besides that playing on my mind.
And a beach 'sprint'
I was in Gower, south wales, over the wknd and spent a fair amount of time on the beach. Having had a dip a mate of mine started just running around, so I thought I'd tag along. Realised I had my Garmin after a while and decided to just record 100M - splashing in the surf....
It's odd to think that probably only around 10% of the population would be happy with the idea of just randomly putting in a bit of a run after a swim!
Last week's running final thoughts...
I am happy enough with that, keeping in mind I was more active than usual around the runs, so happy dayz!

You're quite active compared to me. 😄
I'd like to try running on a track, but there doesn't seem to be one near here that I could use. I'll make do with the local paths and tracks. The weather is a bit iffy lately, so make the most of the dry days.
I don't mind running in the wet too much when it's warm~!
Nice place to go for a run on the beach
It is a pretty idyllic spot! Had to get a quick run in!
