Co-Creating Videos with AI: Another 'Passive-ish' Income Opportunity!

My ad manager pointed out to me that some AI videos I'd knocked up last year for the main blog had been doing rather well recently....

A total of just 10 videos had earned me around $150 a month during May, which sounds great, but that is my peak earning month. Earnings can sink to around 1/5th of that during the bleak summer months.

Now it's the end of June, which is more of a midway month for earnings I've been able to analyse how much I will probably earn in a year per video and the answer is....

$4 per video per month = $50 per year per video... (rounding up for the ease of it!)

The range being from $15 to just $2.

The work to do this....

All I have to do as a minimum is point the AI video generator towards a blog post and click go, wait about 10 minutes and then click render.

The AI summarises the text and picks generally appropriate pictures.

However I get much better results if I spend about an hour or three putting together a PowerPoint and making a few more educational slides to this to supplement, and picking some of my own pictures to.

And if I put in the above work I've got a PowerPoint too, which I can use on the blog, and it also makes sense for me to grammar check and make a few minor updates to each blog post as I go.

So it's win-win.

Earnings for MORE videos...

If my earnings are going to be linear then it works out like this...

  • 20 videos = $1000 a year
  • 100 videos = $5000 a year
  • 200 videos = $10 000 a year
  • 500 videos = $25 000 a year
  • 1000 videos = $50 000 a year.

I highlighted the 200 line as I think that's gonna be optimal. I have around 200 core blog posts with decent traffic which don't overlap too much, they are the ones to focus on.

Also a nice time frame for this is within a year and frankly with my other commitments doing around 17 videos a month is enough!

The 500 level is obvs better, but i don't think the 1000 vids is realistic any time soon! I don't want to churn out shit, I can't imagine they would get too many views!

Other benefits

I think I need to focus on one area, maybe the sociology of education and get this up and running for some tuition sessions first of all from mid September this year maybe.

And all of this should mean better SEO for the blog, Google apparently likes video these days. Oddly enough not YouTube...

Downsides

I'm fairly sure each video I make will eat into the earnings of previous videos, as the software shows videos on multiple pages of my blog.

However it's still better doing more as more videos = more relevance.

It's also pretty time-consuming and the opportunity cost is less updating of what I want to update and less new content creation.

I'm going to power through around 50 videos this summer I think and then see how the video earnings stack up then make a judgement on how hard I go with video creation compared to new content creation.

Final thoughts

This is the kind of work I enjoy the most - put in a few hours and then that product keeps on earning in the background, nice!

I deliberately don't link to them from Hive, I'm paranoid about SEO penalties! Link back from low ranking URLs can't be good for that! If you search humix and revisesociology you should find them.
