Holiday Movies,

My First Pick

Home Alone

If you want to laugh hysterically than this is the movie for you. Originally released in 1990 this movie still holds up today. Staring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern this comedy about two crooks trying to break in a house while being out witted by an 8 year old is sure to bring a smile to anyones face.

The movie spawned many sequels but I prefer to think it only has one, Home Alone 2. Anything after that can't compare to the quality of the first two.

My Second Pick

The Grinch

A Christmas without watching the classic tale Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas is no Christmas at all. This classic Christmas tale has been around for many years.

The original movie came out in 1966 and it was an instant hit for children of all ages. "The Grinch" had multiple remakes which included one that starred Jim Carrey in 2000 and a more recent remake that Hit the homes of many in 2018.

My Third Pick

A Charlie Brown Christmas

How can I create a top 3 Christmas movie list and not include A Charlie Brown Christmas in it. I mean Charlie Brown did have one of the best Christmas trees on display a person could ask for :) This movie originally aired in 1965 and has been a classic ever since just like many of the other Charlie Brown holiday specials.

Honorable Mentions

This months question was yet another tough one. Not because it was hard coming up with three awesome Christmas movies but because there's so many classics to choose from it was tough picking one over the other.

Scrooge

A classic that has been remade in many different variants, Scrooge deserves a mention here. Its the classic tail of a mean spirited person being visited by 3 Ghosts who try and help Scrooge to mend his ways.

The Santa Clause

Who doesn't want to push Santa off their roof and steal his job? The Santa Clause is a fun movie for everyone of all ages to enjoy. It spawned many sequels but none lived up to the hype of the first.

And there he is! I have started hearing the theme song to Rocky every time I open up your monthly post now. ;) Throwing down the hammer with some solid choices this month again. Home Alone definitely seems to be a hot one. So happy to see the original Grinch, as well. I just watched it last night when I saw it was on, though I missed the very beginning so might have to catch it again. Ooh, and I just checked and see Charlie Brown is on tomorrow night! Woohoo! You all have my inner child squealing with glee! Good luck staying at the top!

Well, I'm not a Christmas movie, but Rocky's trilogy, for the most part, not counting the STAR WARS

What about Die Hard, that counts as a Christmas Movie.

Do you like that one?

Its used to payout participants.

I'm not sure if they keep a fee or not but if they do its only small.

@metzli @rentmoney

Hey guys, just to clarify the contest prize pool and what happens to the STEEM/SBD (I'm one of the 4 who runs the contest):

75% of what we receive from entry fees is currently given out as prizes to the Top 3 and 25% goes back in to the @yourtop3 account as SP to grow it so we can give bigger upvotes the next month and hence bigger prizes (so like an accumulative effect).

Although once 2020 hits, we'll change the model a little bit as we have plans to dish out even more prizes... can't give too much away at the moment but ultimately, there'll be more ways to win ;)

Feel free to join our Discord and we'll be happy to answer any more questions!

I can say that I did enjoy Jim Carrey's act as the grinch. He did an amazing job at being a cranky ol' ...whatever that is... Grinch lol.
He's good at what he does!

I agree he did a good job but nothing can replace the original version.

I am thinking of participating, but I did not quite understand this rule:

Set your post payout to 50/50. You keep the SP and then transfer the STEEM or SBD (whichever is paid out at the time) to @phctop3 with a link to your blog post entry in the transfer memo.

Could you explain it better?

There's two options for accepting how we get paid from our content. 100% power up (which powers everything earned to Steem Power) or 50/50 (50% Steem Power/ 50% Steem).

The YourTop3 contest requires you to set your content entry post to the 50/50 option. Once your entry post pays out all of the STEEM (Not Steem Power) earned from it needs to be sent to @yourtop3 as payment for your entry.

When sending the required STEEM to @yourtop3 include a link to your entry post in the memo section. The Steem sent from all contestants is used to fund the prize payouts.

@wiseagent @rentmoney

I'm one of the 4 folks who run the @yourtop3 contest. What rentmoney said is pretty much spot on (thanks for explaining it man).

If you have any more questions and would like to enter, feel free to join our Discord and we'll be happy to answer any questions!

There's still time to enter (until the 9th) so looking forward to seeing what you'd pick as your top 3!

Enter THE CHAMP!

Home Alone, yep, made my top 3 as an undeniable classic! The Grinch, great shout there, I'd forgotten about the 1966 version but as soon as I saw the green coloured fiend, flashbacks of the legend came rushing in! And another one in the hat for Charlie Brown, this is exciting! I only know Master Brown from the very miniature cartoons that I seldom saw in the UK but looks like it was a bigger hit across the Atlantic!

It's going to be an interesting dpoll I feel!

Good luck, can you end the year on the high? Time will tell :)

Thanks for these awesome suggestions for our contest this month! We've given you an upvote and logged your nominations, ready for the dpoll - keep an eye on our blog for the dpoll post!

Set your post payout to 50/50. You keep the SP and then transfer the STEEM and/or SBD (whichever is paid out at the time) to @yourtop3 with a link to your blog post entry in the transfer memo. This is the minimum entry fee, but you can add as much as you like to it! The more you add, the more you can win. There is no maximum entry fee.

Not sure how to find your post payout? Look in your Steem Wallet under Author Rewards to find the exact payout for your post. In the example below you would send the 0.014 SBD and 6.587 STEEM over to the @yourtop3 account as your entry fee. We’ll take it from there and convert all of the prize pool to SBD for easy prize distribution at the end of the month!

Hey Champ.

Three top nominations, as always. Home Alone is sure to be a top choice. What do you think of the new Grinch with a British guy as the main role?

Best of luck

Thanks for stopping by,

To be honest I haven't watched the newest one yet. I seen the trailer when it first came out and I remember thinking I'll stick with the classic one. I'll give the new one a watch sometime this holiday season.

Awesome! Thanks for sending over your entry fee, just letting you know that I've added you in with your nominations now!

Good luck and keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming dpoll between 16th - 18th where we put it to the public vote and let the Steem community decide their top 3 :)

We decided to move the dpoll forward by a couple of days so the prizes can happen in time for Xmas! Will you stay on top of the tree for New Year? Could be a close one!
