My Favorite Childhood Toy #196
Hello, beautiful women of Hive! I hope you're having an awesome start to your week.
There's a new contest, and this time I want to share my favorite childhood toys with you.
Childhood moments are some of the most enjoyable times in life. Sometimes, I wish I could go back and be treated like a kid again with free food, no bills, lots of care, birthday gifts and love.
During my childhood, I always loved playing the role of a mother with my doll, which I often called a baby doll. I used to take care of my doll every day, giving it pretend baths and feeding it.
I remember one time when my mom took us on a retreat for church programmes where everyone would camp for five days. I actually brought my doll along without her knowing. The first time I put the doll in the backpack we were supposed to use, she found it and threw it out.
I found a way to sneak it in. I gave it to my friend and asked her to bring it to camp since it was against my mom's decision.
But guess what happened to the doll? It was stolen at the camp. I kept the doll close to me while I was sleeping, I never knew how it went missing. Maybe my mom threw it away, but she told me she didn't, so I just had to shed some tears.
I thought maybe She felt I was getting too attached to the doll, but I just wanted to play the motherly role. I cried, and when my mom saw me crying, she tried to find out why. I told her, but she didn't believe the story because she was sure I hadn't brought the doll to camp. Then I had to confess how I sneaked it in.
To fast forward the story, my mom refused to replace the doll. It was my dad who bought me a teddy bear when I did excellently well in my exams. That revived the partially lost doll experience for me.
I would carry the teddy bear on my back to my friend's house, where we would take turns caring for it. We even scheduled sessions to feed the teddy bear.
It was an amazing experience filled with loving memories. Sometimes, I call my friend, who is now a doctor, and we laugh as we reminisce about those days. It's hard to forget those memories.
I wish I still had the doll to share those moments with my kids.
Thank you for reading about my experiences with the toys I cherished during my childhood.
Have a lovely day!
Ouch! That is like shock therapy losing your doll like that. It sounds like a cruel prank committed by another camper. Thank God your Dad helped you recover, and no worse for wear.
❤️
Yes I was able to recover with another toy. Thanks for going through my entry.
I can tell how painful it was for you to lose your favorite doll like that, if only you knew you would have listened to your mom and left the doll at home, but you were only a kid.
Thankfully, your Dad gave you a bear as a replacement.
That is such a beautiful memory to have and sounds like you really cared for your doll and gave her much love 💕
But I am so sorry to hear that you lost the doll in such way, stolen by someone... Not fair. Sweet of your dad to give you that teddy bear to replace the loss of the doll. We do get attached to some toys more than others and I was attached to my doll to.
And precious to have such a friend that you could share the care for the Teddy with 💕
Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful week 🌷 loved the pictures.
