Freelancing is My Favorite Kind of Job #199

Happy new week to all the wonderful ladies of Hive!
I hope this week brings you all favor and light.

This week's contest is about the type of job I prefer. I just wished my boss isn’t on Hive to read my entry. Smile, All good!

I have been a victim of job hunting and I will tell you it’s never an experience to wish your enemy Job hunts. From rejection to near success syndrome are the experiences, since then I just have to focus on my teaching till when I am able to build up a profitable tech career.

Currently, I am a teacher in a school here in Nigeria. My job has a routine that feels like a daily cycle.

Waking up as early as 5 a.m. for five days a week can be exhausting, especially in this demanding economy. Since it's challenging to leave all the responsibilities to my husband alone, I need to contribute to the household which warranted me to get a job I wasn’t comfortable with its routine although I appreciate it.

To make sure there's always something on the table, it's important to find your own job as a woman. I don't prioritize being a full-time housewife, so I must work to take care of my needs and help with expenses like house rent.

As a teacher, the best thing I can do now is to incorporate a digital skill, probably graphics design because I am a pro when it comes to generating creative ideas for design. Since I have a natural gift for teaching, I believe If I add a tech skill to what I’m already doing, I should able to teach it too whilst I freelance on the job.

In response to this contest, I would prefer working from home. This way, I could wake up whenever I want and go to my home office. This doesn’t mean I’d be working late; it just means I would prioritize my rest so that my health isn’t affected. Teachers who are in this community can relate especially if you teach in a Nigerian school. If it was before when teachers are been appreciated with better pay and comfortable life, It would have been fine. But right now, I thank God for the experience and the job.

With freelancing, I wouldn’t have to go to my current job every day. However, the key is to first build a skill. I can’t just leave my current job, even though the pay is only enough to cover the major needs of the month. So, I’ll be dedicating some time to learn new skills in addition to what I already know.

If I choose freelancing, I’ll have more time to rest. The mental health of we women needs to be in a balanced condition not influenced by job stress. Employers don’t care about this. That’s why I prefer freelancing over a regular job. I don’t want something that causes physical stress. Once freelancing on graphic design becomes a reliable source of income, I’ll resign from my current job and focus more on it.

Thank you for reading my post about the kind of job I prefer. Bye until next time!

Hola linda, efectivamente free lance deja mucho más tiempo libre para decidir que otras cosas productivas podemos hacer con nuestra vida y lo más importante, dedicarnos tiempo como persona y a nuestras familias . Excelente participación.

Girl, you can say that again, freelancing is the best especially for mothers. It gives you time to build your home. I too will choose it over work from office or anywhere especially now that I have tasted and know what it feels like 😀

About the job rejections, I think it's everywhere oo. If they send you a job rejections as a freelancer, you will be feeling like you are not trying at all 😂
There rejection is very painful but it's a push anyway.
