Splinterlands Contests, Curators POV!
Blockchain of HIVE, has been a home for countless content creators since its inception! Making it one of the most ever growing blockchain among countless others! May that it be content creators, gamers, artists, developers, investors there are places for everyone in this decentralized blockchain.
As a content creator there are several facts which I need to keep in my mind while creating my contents in Hive Blockchain. So far it has been going smoothly but yes, I have been shoveling and taking one step further after every post that I create here. There is always room for improvement!
Coming to my point for creating this blog post, Splinterlands! The play to earn game has been giving us various opportunities to get some decent ROI for the time and effort that we are investing on our contents, game play and more! Creating contents and getting a chance to get upvoted by Splinterlands (aka steemmonsters) gives quite a massive boost to a hive user.
In a week there are three different ways for a content creator, who can get eligible to get some support (in the form of Upvotes) from Splinterlands in their respective contents. Although, there are rules to be followed and contents created by the authors should always be original, authentic and be based on Splinterlands. At most, in a week only two posts can be shared by an author in the Splinterlands Weekly entries, to get eligible for the upvote.

There are countless artists in Hive Blockchain. I have encountered with several artists out in here. Their artworks are out of the world. Their creative thoughts are mind booooooogling! Share your creativity in the form of artwork/contents and get some decent upvotes from Splinterlands.

BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge
"Battle Mage Secrets", will test players' strategic skills as they showcase their matches and team comps for specific rulesets. Every week there will be a specific "rule set" where an author would have to select a battle from their battle page and share their strategy, skills with us all in the form of blog/vlog posts.
Among many other rules, the basic ones that are to be followed are :

Got a battle that is too good not to share? Have you created something amazing? Do you have thoughts on stats, cards, abilities, gameplay? Share your content in Hive and do not forget to share it with other social medias and use the given tags that are said on the challenge posts. One of the reason here is, we are trying to reach a mass audience outside of HIVE blockchain with this approach. So far, this step seems to be working and we are getting some attention from outside of HIVE.
Original contents are always welcomed in the community!

There are quite a lot of questions that I, as a curator of Splinterlands, get from users regarding the submission of posts into the entries. I will try to clear some of the most asked questions. Also there are some of my POV's which I would like to share with you all, which could give you some higher chances of getting curated by the curators. It's not a secret, we all are aware of these points, one just needs to apply it in their contents!
Rules
As one of the curator of Splinterlands, there are certain rules that I am bound to keep in mind in order to curate contents from the authors who are posting their Splinterlands contents. If there are no rules, people will always try to mis use the good intentions of ours. It is our human nature. We will always do that. Due to that, there are specific rules which a user must follow in every contest entries. The rules are simple and stated very very clearly in every contest entries.
If you are not following any one of them you reward chances gets lower and lower. For instance, there was a rule where you were stated to use a specific rule set battle in BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge but seems like you did not! Which is why no matter how good your content is, you just lost a chance to get bigger chunk of upvote. Similarly, always try to fill up the criteria of that contest post and get yourself a decent amount worth of upvote!
More words = Bigger Votes!
Really! You think this mojo works? Come on! You should know by now, quantity does not count over quality. If you are creating content, which holds no value at all for the community, you are likely just wasting your time and ours as well. It can thousand word content but if its just another template type post, you are likely to get less/no rewards for your posts. By template I mean, repetitive contents by just replacing the monsters and some words from your earlier posts and creating a new post. Do not get the impression, we are not looking out for these sort of posts! We sure are and they are being dealt with. A fair warning to those to stop doing these and improve your contents by bringing variation and uniqueness to your contents. please, do not loose an opportunity!
Curators POV
See, every curators have their own way of dealing with curation. They have their own freedom to do so. We follow rules and maintain a balance as much as possible with the posts, Voting Power of the curation account and so on. Decisions that are made by us are done by thorough research and with valid points. Nothing personal is in here! If your content makes my time worth it, you are likely to get what you deserve! We try to use the VP as much as possible (also be very careful about the %) and give out the best possible vote to the content creators.
I am someone who likes my posts neat and clean. I also expect others to do that lol. I might be biased out in here but tbh a messy post does not give out the same vibe as a neat and clean post does. So, do use markdowns in your posts, use sliders and make your content even more impressive than it was. I am aware about the fact, where the content inside the post does matters the most but do not forget, whatever you are displaying in your contents, it shows how refined you are!
An upvote, is not guaranteed at all!
Do not DM curators! It is indeed annoying! We are also humans. If your content did not get upvoted, there could be several reasons behind it. Like I stated, this is not charity! You must bring something to the table for your readers. Be unique, be genuine, do not get involved into any sort of foolish behaviors, avoid template writing posts. Another scenario : Giving away cards is always appreciated, a big thank you to you for this generous effort, but giving away couple of cents worth of card and expecting a chunky upvote does not sounds right! Isn't it?
Do not be Greedy!
This is a fair warning to all those who are thinking that they will beat the usual system and keep on getting support. You are very wrong! If you are found guilty of misusing the opportunities given by Splinterlands, you will be punished. I suppose many of you, are already getting the taste of it! Like I said, there are countless inspections and detailed reviews done, if an author is found misusing the curation system. Hence they are dealt with in our own ways.

This platform has always been user friendly and supportive to all those who are genuine and authentic over their time in HIVE. This place is not some get quick rich scheme. Whatever rewards that are being given out by users, they are an appreciation from them. Do not take it for granted!
You are just coming out twice a week, out of no where and renting few level 1 cards, just for the sake of creating a post for contest! How do you define that? You are not upgrading your deck, you are just selling off whatever rewards you are getting from here, no communication with the community, this really sucks big time.
Its a red flag my friend. You probably forgot, nothing gets hidden in HIVE blockchain. Every transaction is public and we all know what we are doing and everyone have access to each others data ;) The beauty of the blockchain is over whelming indeed! I can name a lot of ways which users are mis using this golden opportunity. I somehow feel pity for those. Since, this opportunity is a long term investment. Splinterlands has a long way to go.
I might be saying lots of facts which I was not supposed to. It might be hurtful to many! I get that and I deeply apologize! All of my words are solely an attempt to keep our home as clean as ever. Yes, we are not perfect, we will make mistakes! But lets learn from those and keep on improving as we walk forward in this blockchain industry!
