Soulbound Cards of Splinterlands

The recent update regarding Splinterlands soul bound cards is receiving mixed reaction from the community. Although, there are multiple aspects which needs to be taken into consideration. There has been a proposal (draft) up and running where some of the concerns have been taken into consideration and being discussed!


One of the prime concern regarding this upgrade is the cost to unlock the cards. A simple calculation has been drawn For the first 29 days, a max-level regular-foil Drybone Raider will cost 55,000 DEC (11 BCX * 500 power * 10) to unbind. At current market price it will cost 55000 DEC which is 0.00060131 BTC (33.256 USD). On the other hand a Max GF lEG card will cost 500000 DEC, that's approximately $300 in current market condition. This is just for the first 29 days. Although, it will continue to increase on a regular basis for the next 6 months. Given the chart below you can count the numbers accordingly!

As it seems by considering the market, this price calculations does seems a little bit off. Since the unlocking period will start pretty soon, this issue is taking by surprise to many. Although, here are some positive facts which I think might happen in the coming days.

• People will unlock the cards and make complete use of them and there will be those who will try to get rid of those cards in the market. Well, judging by the current scenario the price of License is hovering around $150 approx. There are people who bought these licenses for thousands of dollars but as of now many are getting rid of them. Although, I doubt this will happen for the card market. As there is still use case for the cards in battles and lands.

• Players will likely keep them as it is and just this cards will be soulbounded. Since the price is considered too high for many.

• For the second step there will be limited number of cards surfing in the market, which will probably keep the price in check and possibly be worth worthwhile holding the cards in the deck.

Nevertheless, there will be arguments and talks in different groups regarding this particular costs. This will one way or the other will affect the community in different ways. which is why a proposal has been up and it is for the community to make a statement for themselves out in here. Well, according to the votes you can notice majority number of stakers do want the current proposal to stay in place.

Well, the results will be out within six days and so far what I am noticing the whales does want to keep the unbinding cost as it is for the soulbound cards. If this takes into affect, I suppose there will be possible some sort of movement in the DEC market. As not everyone seems to have DEC in their possession.

Like I stated this could actually hold some value for the cards when there will be limited number of cards in the market. Lets see what really awaits for the card holders!
