Nodes in blockchain plays a vital role in storing complete history of transactions on the network. In simple terms, without nodes various blockchains will halt and cease to exist. Although, there are nodes(Master) available in the market of different blockchains, which provides incentives for running a node in their respective network. I invested on one of those Nodes and lets see, how it has been performing?
Splinterlands Node Licenses
I have been in touch with nodes for some time, even before Splinterlands introduced its own License Nodes. I was eager to see the outcome of this event and like always, I was excited to see how license will bring change to the eco system of Splinterlands. Thus, I jumped in on node purchase and could not wait to see the output.
- At present times, Splinterlands license sale is running at Tranche 2, it has 5 more phases to go. 60k licenses will exist in total. It would cost you around
TOTAL: 182,332.692 SPS ($2,500 USD) + 500 VOUCHERSto purchase one license from Splinterlands.
- There are two ways to obtain Licenses at the moment. First step is via Splinterlands official market, while the other is from secondary market in Hive-Engine. On official market it will cost you $2500 worth of SPS and 500 vouchers, while on secondary market it is going to cost you
1359 HIVE= $500.
- Rewards for holding onto licenses ingame is currently 4 vouchers and 20 sps (if I am not wrong). This is for holding onto 1 node/license atm. Since the license operation is not active yet, we are yet to see full potential of them. I am sort of excited to see what would be the outcome of these licenses once the chain becomes active and node operators gets to validate the transactions. It would be literally mind boggling!
As mentioned in the SPS Whitepaper, there are 3,750,000 SPS tokens per month allocated to a reward pool for SPS Validator Node operators. 10%, or 375,000, of the monthly total will be allocated as block validation rewards for the accounts that receive staked SPS votes and are assigned specific blocks to validate, and the remaining 3,375,000 SPS / month will be split equally between all of the license holders that are actively running the node software.read post here for more details
There are certain aspects which does makes sense for Splinterlands. While sometimes it does not. Nodes/licenses are still in very early stage. I am not sure when they are even coming live. I am pretty sure the team is working behind it. As of now, I believe the LAND is of outmost priority. I myself can not wait to see the LAND coming into play.
Comparison
A similar kind of game available in the blockchain is Gala games. It's eco system does looks promising based on its user base and its tokenomics. As of now the price of Gala, its native coin is rising based on the market impact. The node of gala games is probably one of the most promising side of its eco system. The price of its node has been rising ever since and hitting almost 100k USD per node (master node). I am quite impressed by the way they have designed their node eco system. It is possibly one of the best passive income generator in crypto industry as of now, in terms node services.

They have done it. That's a fact. We can not deny the way they have implemented the idea of this node and people rushed to buy them and have made significant improve in the eco system. Although, I do agree Gala games has different attributes than Splinterlands eco system. Whatever they are implementing within their eco system its working somehow. I know few of my folks who have couple of these master nodes and believe me they are sort of set for their life. Which I really want to say for Splinterlands. As in the coming days, I really want to retire and I want to thank Splinterlands for it. Yeah, do not forget about HIVE btw! These two are the apple of our eyes lol.
There are room for improvement. There always is. We can learn and improvise along the way. As clearly there are certain things which are not working and we need more adoption and funds along they way. Clearly bear market is also a reason and the scenario might change in the coming days once we get to enter the bull market. I am eagerly awaiting to see what future awaits for us. And clearly I am into holding mode for now!

Back then the price of a licence was close to 4000 Hive. After purchasing one for 3500 Hive from the HE market, I thought I was very lucky but since then the price has gone down. Hope the bull market brings us some good fortune.
